Konstantin Popovic hit the game-winning three-point shot with 31 seconds, while Daniel Ntambwe led the team with 21 points and six rebounds. Assistant Coach John Weigner says he is proud of the fight and grit shown by the squad.

Both teams end the first half of the season at Nellis Hall on Saturday afternoon, when they host the Colby Trojans in doubleheader action.

Raven Quarterback Looks Back on Special Season

The Red Raven football season has reached the conclusion, and one key piece of the 2025 is reflecting on his season in Coffeyville.

Quarterback Mac Armstrong had a redshirt freshman season to remember, throwing for 2,000 yards and 20 total touchdowns, with only one turnover, leading the Ravens to seven wins and a Top 10 national ranking. He says he grew up a lot in his time in Coffeyville.

Armstrong spent two seasons at the JUCO level, and is currently evaluating options at the FCS and Division 2 level. He says the JUCO experience is something that cannot be replicated.

When Armstrong arrived on campus, he was the seventh quarterback on the roster, and a long shot to get playing time. He says the belief the coaching staff put in him means the world.

Armstrong was named the 2025 KJCCC Co-Offensive Player of the Year last week, and was a 1st-Team All-Conference selection.

Bullpups Sweep Bulldogs in HS Basketball Matchup Tuesday Night

The Caney Valley Bullpups traveled to Galena last night and came home with a doubleheader sweep; the Lady Pups won 57-22, while the guys won 61-33.

Pressure defense worked well for the Lady Pups, forcing turnovers which led to fast break points. The ladies only needed two 3-pointers in the win, with the rest of their scoring coming in the paint. Elyn Washburn led all scorers with 14, while Ameris King-Dunn added 13. Molleigh Kaminska added 10, as the Lady Pups improve to 2-0 on the season.

The inside game worked well for the boys as well; they were led by Peyton Darden with 19. Layne Denny and Traxcyn Garton added 11 apiece, as the boys improve to 1-1 on the season.

There's no rest for the weary, as both teams will participate in the St. Paul Pre-Season tournament tomorrow through Saturday. Both teams will face Chaetopa, with the girls playing at 1:00 and the boys at 2:30. Pregame starts around 12:45 on U-S 98!

Ravens Head to Concordia for Road Test

The Red Ravens hit the road for the final time in the first half of the season, heading north to Concordia to battle the Cloud County Thunderbirds.

Both teams will be looking to get back in the win column, following Saturday afternoon losses to Dodge City at Nellis Hall.

It's finals week at CCC, with the athletes balancing the end of classes and the end of the first semester on the court. Lady Raven Head Coach Tony Turner says the team needs to stay locked in and handle business this week.

The men's team has dropped back-to-back games after starting the season 8-1, trailing by double digits in the first half against both Cowley and Dodge City. Assistant Coach Jordan Bailey says the coaching staff remains confident in the team's ability to respond.

Coverage of Coffeyville and Cloud County begins tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. CT on US 98.

Raven Safety Commits to West Virginia

One of the key members of the Red Raven defense will be continuing his football career in the Big 12 conference.

Safety Da'Mare Williams announced his committment to the West Virginia Moutaineers last week. Williams was All-KJCCC Honorable Mention this season, and was graded as a three-star recruit, with offers to Houston, UCF, and Kentucky.

He says the Moutaineers felt right when he stepped on campus.

WVU is looking to climb back to Big 12 title contention after a sub .500 season. Williams says the energy around the program and the urgency excites him about the future.

Williams began playing football at a young age, with eyes on the Division 1 level, and eventually the NFL. He says the hunger to be great comes from his family.

Da'Mare will report to West Virginia next month, with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Raven Basketball Remains in Rankings

Both Red Raven basketball teams remain in the national rankings heading into Week 5 of the season, despite both teams suffering conference losses last week.

The Lady Ravens stay put at No. 25, following a 1-1 week with a win over Cowley, and narrow loss to No. 1 Dodge City. CCC is one of four KJCCC teams ranked in the standings, with Dodge City No.1, Butler No. 14, and Hutchinson No. 18.

The men's team is down 12 spots in the rankings after an 0-2 week, landing at No. 22 in the national polls. The Jayhawk conference has five ranked teams on the men's side, with Cowley at No. 16, Butler at No. 18, Barton at No. 20, and Dodge City at No. 21.

The Ravens wrap up the first half of the season this week, battling Cloud County in Concordia tomorrow night, before facing Colby at Nellis Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Nado Drop First Games at Nowata Tournament

The opening day of the 2025 Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament in Nowata ended with a pair of Nado losses.

The Lady Nado dropped a game to the Chelsea Dragons by a final score of 53-32. Coffeyville struggled to find their offensive groove until the fourth quarter, and were unable to close a gap that grew as the game went on.

Head Coach Will Owens says the team did start to build some momentum late in the loss.

The boys team fell to the Oolagah Mustangs 60-53, failing to complete a fourth quarter comeback. Coffeyville trailed by 12 entering the final eight minutes, and were able to trim the deficit all the way down to three, but key free throws and three-point shots allowed the Mustangs to escape.

Head Coach Griff Walker says the team has a few things to clean up before this weekend.

Both programs will now pursue a consolation championship, with the teams next in action on Friday night at 7 and 8:30 p.m. CT.

Klein Introduced as KSU Football Coach

A new era of Kansas State football is underway, with former star quarterback Collin Klein being named the program's next head coach, following the retirement of Chris Klieman.

Klein was a Heisman finalist at KSU and won 21 games as a starter. He has spent time coaching offense at both Kansas State and Texas A&M.

He says he feels blessed to have the opportunity to coach his alma mater.

Kansas State recently finished a 6-6 season, declining to play in a bowl game due to the coaching transition and roster turnover. Klein says the program will take necessary steps to keep up with modern college football.

Klein will make his head coaching debut on September 5th, 2026, when the Wildcats host the Nicholls State Colonels to open the season.

Ravens Drop Home Doubleheader to Dodge City

The Red Ravens were unable to defend home court on Saturday, dropping a pair of games to the Dodge City Conquistadors.

The Lady Ravens hung around with the nation's No. 1 team, but eventually fell 68-60. Head Coach Tony Turner says he's proud of how the group competed for the full game.

Bella Pehrson had 20 points to lead the team, while freshman Mahogany Butler had eight off the bench. Butler says the team is focused on finishing the first half strong this week.

The men's team found themselves down double-digits at halftime, and weren't able to make the comback, falling 76-68 to the Conquistadors. Assistant Coach Jordan Bailey says the team needs to learn how to play full 40 minutes quickly.

Sophomore Daniel Ntambwe had 16 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. He says the team as a whole needs to show more toughness on the court.

Both teams have two games remaining before the winter break, with a trip to Concordia to battle Cloud County on Wednesday night.

Chiefs Drop Key Game to Texans

The Kansas City Chiefs were unable to get anything going on the offensive end, dropping a crucial game for postseason standings to the Houston Texans, 20-10.

Patrick Mahomes had the worst game of his career, with just 160 yards and three interceptions. The duo of Kareem Hunt and Isaih Pacheco combined for just three yards per carry, and Rashee Rice was held to four catches on the day.

Mahomes says the team as a whole didn't do enough when it mattered.

Kansas City is 6-7 on the season, sitting two games back of a Wild Card Spot with four games left in the regular season. Head Coach Andy Reid says the team has to continue to battle to the very end.

The Chiefs host the Chargers this week, and will play the Titans, Broncos, and Raiders as well to end the regular season.

Red Ravens Preparing for Dodge City

Red Raven basketball returns home tomorrow afternoon, hosting the Dodge City Conquistadors at Nellis Hall in doubleheader action.

The Lady Ravens are going for their fifth consecutive win, facing the No. 1 Conqs in a rematch of last season's Region VI championship game. Assistant Coach Sam Steinmeyer says the team will need to continue to execute on the defensive end in this one.

The men's team is aiming to bounce back after a tough trip to Cowley, facing a Dodge team that is 7-3 on the season with the NJCAA Player of the Week in Wesley Rosa. Head Coach Jay Herkelman says the Conquistadors are playing well together so far this season.

Coverage of Coffeyville and Dodge City begins tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. CT on US 98 and the Red Raven Sports Network.

KSU Football Officially Names Klein as Head Coach

A reunion for one of the best football players in Kansas State history is now official, with former quarterback Collin Klein agreeing to a five-year deal to be the next head football coach.

Klein was a 2012 Heisman Trophy finalist at quarterback for KSU, and also served as a graduate assistant and offensive coordinator under both Bill Snyder and Chris Klieman. He has been serving as the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M for the past two seasons.

Klein is in the KSU Football Ring of Honor, and posted a 21-5 record as the starting quarterback. He is the first Wildcat alum to lead the program since Ellis Rainsberger from 1975 to 1977.

The deal will pay Klein $4.3 million annually for the five-year deal.

Labette County's Argabright Named 4A Coach of Year

One of the largest rises in the state of Kansas for football ends with a major award, with Labette County head coach Bradley Argabright winning the 4A Coach of the Year from Sports in Kansas.

The Grizzlies finished 9-3 and reached the 4A state semifinals for the first time in school history, after finishing 5-5 in 2024, 1-8 in 2023, and 2-7 in 2022. The team was also without all-state running back Jamaal Jackson, who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1.

This season, Labette County beat 5A Pittsburg for the first time ever, defeated Chanute twice, and earned a playoff win over Ottawa to secure the first trip to the Final Four in program history.

Argabright also serves as the school's head boys basketball coach, and head track and field coach.

Raven Football Has 21 Players Named All-Conference

Red Raven football received plenty of recognition with the all-conference awards, with 21 total players being placed on all-league teams, including quarterback Mac Armstrong winning Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Armstrong helped lead the Ravens to a 7-3 record and second place finish in the KJCCC, throwing for 1,996 yards and 19 touchdowns, along with a rushing touchdown. The signal caller lead the league in yards per game and yards per completion, and only had one total turnover on the season.

Additional Ravens on the first-team are running back Steven Robinson, and offensive lineman Daniel Davis. On the second-team are wide receivers Khris Thomas and Jalile Bost, tight end Ryley Zalusky, safety Robert Deal, and center Devon Waller.

FKHS Drops Both Against Ark City

Field Kindley High School girls and boys basketball both start the season with tough losses against Ark City. The Lady Nado fall 29-23 and the Nado boys lost 50-45.

Both Coffeyville and Ark City got off to slow starts shooting the ball combining to go 6/48 in the first half. The Lady Nado would lead at the break up 10-8. Coffeyville would see their lead to up to as much as seven in the second half, but Ark City would end the game on a 13-0 run in the final two minutes to get the six point win. Erin Lopez led all scorers with 11 points.

It was a different story for the Nado boys who say themselves down big in the first half trailing 27-14 at halftime. In the second half, KK Austin would score 14 of his 22 points and help lead the Nado back to a two point deficit. That was as close as they would get it before some late Ark City free throws would seal a five point loss.

Both teams are back in action tonight taking on Caney at home. Girls tip-off at 6:00pm with the boys to follow. The Lady Nado game will start on US 98 and then after the Coffeyville Christmas Parade the games will be simulcast on both US 98 and Sonsine 98.9.

Ravens Struggle with Press in Loss to Tigers

The Red Ravens' early season struggles with pressure defense continued, with 19 turnovers in a 96-76 loss to the Cowley Tigers.

The Ravens allowed a massive run late in the first half, which Cowley had 22 points off turnovers, and trailed 54-30 heading into the locker room. Sophomore Konstantin Popovic says the team has higher expectations than the way they performed in this one.

Coffeyville would outscore Cowley 46-42 in the second half, and had only five turnovers after the half. Popovic had 18 points to lead the team, while Daniel Ntambwe finished with 14. Assistant Coach John Weigner says the team has multiple areas they need to be better in moving forward.

CCC will be back at home to battle Dodge City on Saturday afternoon, looking to get back in the win column.

Turner Earns 400th Win as Lady Ravens Beat Cowley

The Lady Ravens handle business on the road, winning their fourth straight game 67-52 over Cowley, and earning Coach Tony Turner a milestone victory.

It was the 400th career win for Coach Turner, as CCC improves to 10-1 on the season thus far. Since the start of last season, the Lady Ravens are 36-7 overall.

Aubrey Hishaw had 19 points, while Karliey Parker had another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sh'Ryah Wright had 14 points in her return from injury. Turner says it was a nice performance in a tough road game.

The Lady Ravens welcome No. 1 Dodge City to town on Saturday afternoon.

Depth and Conditioning Key for Lady Nado to Start Season

The Lady Nado start the season with high expectations coming off a successful season last year. Despite those expectations the team only returns three starters and has a lot of question marks around who else will be key contributors this season.

That answer might be in a junior and a senior who return to the team after not playing since their freshman seasons. Senior and Junior Guards Kaleigha Overton and Julia Solozano say they've grown since their freshman seasons.  Two sophomores who saw a lot of time as freshman starting on the Lady Nado junior varsity team, now look to make an impact for the varsity team. Sophomore Center and Guard Atina Colbert and Makenzie Jones say they're bringing what they learned last year into this year.

There are 25 girls across the three teams for the Lady Nado making it one of the deeper teams in the last several seasons. Head Coach Will Owens says they're going to need that depth with how they start the season.  Coffeyville opens with Ark City in Winfield tomorrow, then plays Caney on Friday at home before heading to the Nowata Tournament for three games next week and then ends the 2025 part of the season with games at home against Winfield and Pittsburg on Monday December 15th and Tuesday December 16th.

Klieman to Retire, Klein Expected to be Next Coach

Major changes are coming for Kansas State football, with head coach Chris Klieman planning to step down and retire following the bowl game.

Klieman has served as the KSU coach for seven seasons, posting a 54-34 record, appearing in five bowl games, including a 2022 Big 12 championship. He says he's received plenty of encouragement so far for this decision.

The Wildcats underperformed this season, starting 2-4, and barely qualifying for a bowl game at 6-6, despite preseason championship hopes. Klieman says, despite this, he is grateful for what the 'Cats have accomplished in his tenure.

Early expectations are Texas A&M offensive coordinator Colin Klein, the most accomplished quarterback in KSU history, is finalizing a deal to be the next head coach. He will continue to coach with the Aggies through the College Football Playoff, as Klieman will coach KSU in the bowl game.

Ravens Head to Arkansas City for Ranked Showdown

Red Raven men's basketball faces another tough ranked showdown, traveling to Arkansas City to battle the Cowley Tigers.

Both teams enter the game with just one loss in conference play, with the Ravens at No. 10 in the nation, and the Tigers No. 21 in the latest national polls.

Head Coach Jay Herkelman says the Tigers feature one of the most skilled and intense rosters in the nation.

The Tigers dominate at home in recent years under Donnie Jackson, with many teams facing double-digit deficiits in the first half. Herkelman says the team will need to start strong and survive an early storm.

Coffeyville and Cowley tip off tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT, immediately following the Lady Raven game on US 98.

Lady Ravens Hope Experience Prevails Against Cowley

The Lady Ravens hit the road to battle the Cowley Tigers, with both teams entering the matchup with only one loss in conference play this season.

Cowley has one of the youngest rosters in the conference, with only one returning sophomore with playing experience from last season. Head Coach Tony Turner says despite this, the Tigers still feature one of the most talented teams in the league.

Cowley historically has one of the toughest places to play in the conference, with the Tigers boasting large crowds and loud student sections every game day. Turner says the team will need to focus on the task at hand with the tough road environment.

Coverage of Coffeyville and Cowley begins tonight at 5:00 p.m. CT with tip off at 5:30 on the home for Red Raven sports, US 98.

Zimmerman's Confidence is Up for New Season

A Lady Nado basketball player looks to carry her success from the fall into the new basketball season.

Junior Guard Jessica Zimmerman, who won the SEK League title for girl's golf this fall, says if she was confident on the course she can be confident on the court. Zimmerman was the lone sophomore starter last season and steps into a bigger role this season as the player with the third most experience on the team. She says she is ready to step into a bigger leadership role.

Head Coach Will Owens says he plans to look to Zimmerman to be a vocal leader on this team. Zimmerman says having more confidence and getting more shots up was the biggest things she's worked on this season.

Lady Raven Head Coach Tony Turner says Smith has been a perfect fit to the program so far.

On the season, Smith is averaging 13.3 and 9.9 rebounds per game, leading the conference in rebounding. Esme and the Ravens battle the Cowley Tigers on the road tomorrow night.

The men's team jumps up five spots to No. 10 in the national rankings after a ranked win over Barton. CCC is the top-ranked KJCCC team in the national polls. Barton drops five spots to No. 15, while Cowley is at No. 21, and Garden City enters the rankings at No. 25. Butler is receiving votes on the men's side.

The Red Ravens are in Arkansas City tomorrow night to take on Cowley County in doubleheader action.

Caron and Lopez Take on Leadership Roles for Lady Nado

Two Field Kindley High School seniors look to step into leadership roles for the Lady Nado basketball team this season. Guards Kaylin Caron and Erin Lopez are four year starters for Coffeyville and know the expectations coming into this season.

Caron says she's adjusting to her new role and to playing without her sister. Lopez says she's ready for her new role as a leader as her confidence on the court is the highest it's been.

Head Coach Will Owens, who takes over as the new head coach, says Caron and Lopez set the tone for the team. The Lady Nado are coming off their best season in the last ten years going 10-6 and 7-3 in SEK League play.

Bartlesville Football Continues Search for Coach

Bartlesville High School continues their search for a new head football coach, following the resignation of former head coach Harry Wright after four seasons with the Bruins.

Bartlesville High Athletics and Activities Director Thad Dilbeck spoke on last week's Bruin Buzz program. He says the timing was right for the program and Coach Wright to part ways.

BHS is conducting a football coaching search for just the second time since 2019, as coaches Jason Sport and Wright served in the role over the past seven seasons.

Dilbeck says there will be a group of community members involved in the search. Wright went 16-30 during his time at Bartlesville, winning two playoff games, but posting just a 6-16 mark the past two seasons.

KSU Football Clinches Bowl Game

The Kansas State Wildcats are bowl game bound, defeating Colorado 24-14 in the regular season finale to finish the regular season with a 6-6 record.

After a slow start, KSU was able to establish the ground game behind another strong performance from Joe Jackson, and the defense only allowed 14 points on the day.

Head Coach Chris Klieman says he's proud of the fight this team showed in the second half of the season.

A popular topic surrounding Wildcat football is the status of junior quarterback Avery Johnson, and whether he will return to Manhattan, or enter the transfer portal. Johnson says he hasn't made a decision yet, but loves being at KSU.

The Wildcats will know their bowl game opponent following the conference championship games this weekend.
