Depth and Conditioning Key for Lady Nado to Start Season

The Lady Nado start the season with high expectations coming off a successful season last year. Despite those expectations the team only returns three starters and has a lot of question marks around who else will be key contributors this season.

That answer might be in a junior and a senior who return to the team after not playing since their freshman seasons. Senior and Junior Guards Kaleigha Overton and Julia Solozano say they've grown since their freshman seasons.  Two sophomores who saw a lot of time as freshman starting on the Lady Nado junior varsity team, now look to make an impact for the varsity team. Sophomore Center and Guard Atina Colbert and Makenzie Jones say they're bringing what they learned last year into this year.

There are 25 girls across the three teams for the Lady Nado making it one of the deeper teams in the last several seasons. Head Coach Will Owens says they're going to need that depth with how they start the season.  Coffeyville opens with Ark City in Winfield tomorrow, then plays Caney on Friday at home before heading to the Nowata Tournament for three games next week and then ends the 2025 part of the season with games at home against Winfield and Pittsburg on Monday December 15th and Tuesday December 16th.
