The opening day of the 2025 Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament in Nowata ended with a pair of Nado losses.
The Lady Nado dropped a game to the Chelsea Dragons by a final score of 53-32. Coffeyville struggled to find their offensive groove until the fourth quarter, and were unable to close a gap that grew as the game went on.
Head Coach Will Owens says the team did start to build some momentum late in the loss.
The boys team fell to the Oolagah Mustangs 60-53, failing to complete a fourth quarter comeback. Coffeyville trailed by 12 entering the final eight minutes, and were able to trim the deficit all the way down to three, but key free throws and three-point shots allowed the Mustangs to escape.
Head Coach Griff Walker says the team has a few things to clean up before this weekend.
Both programs will now pursue a consolation championship, with the teams next in action on Friday night at 7 and 8:30 p.m. CT.
