Coffeyville Community College football starts the season 1-0 with a 37-0 victory over Highland.
It was the Red Ravens' special teams that got on the board first with a blocked punt and a safety. With just over two minutes left in the first quarter, CCC scored their first touchdown of the season. QB Isaiah Velez would find Mario Sanchez in the corner of the endzone extending the lead to 9-0. Velez would strike again early in the second this time on the ground and then added another through the air right before halftime for a CCC lead of 23-0.
It stayed all Red Ravens in the second half as Velez would throw for his third touchdown of the night. RB Jacquez Barksdale would add one on the ground for the final of 37-0. Velez, in his Red Ravens debut, was 24-34, with 289 yards and four total touchdowns. Joseph Young had 5 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. The Red Ravens' defense held Highland to just 130 yards of total offense in the shutout. CCC is on the road this Saturday taking on Dodge City.
