Field Kindley High School girls and boys basketball both start the season with tough losses against Ark City. The Lady Nado fall 29-23 and the Nado boys lost 50-45.
Both Coffeyville and Ark City got off to slow starts shooting the ball combining to go 6/48 in the first half. The Lady Nado would lead at the break up 10-8. Coffeyville would see their lead to up to as much as seven in the second half, but Ark City would end the game on a 13-0 run in the final two minutes to get the six point win. Erin Lopez led all scorers with 11 points.
It was a different story for the Nado boys who say themselves down big in the first half trailing 27-14 at halftime. In the second half, KK Austin would score 14 of his 22 points and help lead the Nado back to a two point deficit. That was as close as they would get it before some late Ark City free throws would seal a five point loss.
Both teams are back in action tonight taking on Caney at home. Girls tip-off at 6:00pm with the boys to follow. The Lady Nado game will start on US 98 and then after the Coffeyville Christmas Parade the games will be simulcast on both US 98 and Sonsine 98.9.
