Field Kindley High School splits against Winfield in two one point games, with the Lady Nado winning 30-29 and the Nado boys falling 56-55.
In what was rough night shooting for both teams, the Lady Nado used the free throw line to help secure the win. Coffeyville trailed by two at the half 15-13 shooting just 19% from the floor. The Lady Nado would trim the lead to one after the third quarter outscoring Winfield 10-9. Despite shooting just 1/18 in the fourth quarter, Coffeyville hit 5/8 free throws in the quarter to help take the lead. Kaylin Caron would hit the final two to secure the one point win. She lead Coffeyville with nine points.
The Nado boys found themselves down early outscored 19-13 in the first quarter and 30-19 at halftime. KK Austin who leads the team in scoring had just two points in the first half. Coffeyville would get down as much as 17 in the second half. Austin took the game over in the third and fourth quarter scoring 25 second half points. The Nado hit 11 shots in the second half with Austin making 10 of them. He also made 5/9 free throws including the and one free throw to give Coffeyville the one point lead. With just over four seconds left Winfield ran an inbound play to their 6'9” Freshman Le'Gend Cyrus Riley who hit the game winner at the buzzer, he finished with 14. Senior Evan Hutto lead the Vikings with 19.
Coffeyville is back in action tonight taking on Pittsburg in their first league game of the season and their last game until the new year. Girls will tip off at 6:00pm with the boys to follow.
