Coffeyville Community College heads into the break with a double header sweep of Colby Community College. The Lady Red Ravens won 72-55 and the Red Raven men 93-68.
The CCC women came out firing in the first quarter going 5/7 from three with Hallie Kitchens going 3/3. The Lady Red Ravens would outscore Colby 40-22 in the first half. The CCC women took multiple trips to the free throw line cashing in on 21 of their 25 attempts compared to just 2-4 for Colby. The win ends a small two loss streak heading into the extended winter break. Kitchens finished with 21, Aubrey Hishaw added 18 and Karliey Parker had 13.
The CCC men got off to a slow start only up eight at the half with three players off the bench, Jeremiah Lucas, Ka'Bari Lewis and Ulysses Webb leading the team in scoring at the break. The Red Ravens would get the lead to double digits but Colby kept hanging around. CCC finally stole momentum on a Rashid Kuta posterizing slam and the Red Ravens were able to push the lead to 20. Daniel Ntambwe led all scorers with 23. The win makes it two in a row before the extended break.
Both teams are off until January.
