The Royals prepare to host one of the most important series of the season thus far, welcoming the first place Detroit Tigers to town for three games.
Detroit currently paces the American League with a 37-20 record, and lead the AL Central Division by six games entering the weekend. Kansas City is 30-27 and a half game back of the final Wild Card spot.
Both teams flex two of the better starting rotations in the sport, with the Royals getting Seth Lugo back from injury tonight, before Michael Wacha tomorrow, and Kris Bubic on Sunday. Detroit will counter with former first overall pick Casey Mize tonight, reigning Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal tomorrow, and Keider Montero on Sunday.
