Field Kindley High School splits their final game of the regular season with the Lady Nado falling 59-43 and the Nado boys winning 56-51.

The Coffeyville girl's season comes to an end last night as the Lady Nado needed the win to make the Sub-State tournament. The girls got out to a strong start leading by seven at the half. The third quarter has been an issue all season for the Lady Nado and another rough start to the second half would see their seven point lead change to six point deficit in the quarter. Kaylin Caron finishes her high school career with 12 points and Jessica Zimmerman leads the Lady Nado with 13.

The Nado boys, who came into the game locked into the 14 seed for the Sub-State tournament, were looking to make it two in a row to end the season. Labette County got out to a hot start leading early after opening the game on a 5-0 run. The Nado answered quickly taking control of the game halfway through the first. Coffeyville led by four at halftime 31-27. Labette cut that lead to one heading into the fourth but Kobi Kirk, who scored six straight points that kept Coffeyville in the lead, and Jaxin Hershey who scored 12 of the teams 14 fourth quarter points secured the win for the Nado. Kirk finished with 18, KK Austin with 14 and Hersey with nine. The Nado boys take on Baldwin on the road for their first round Sub-State matchup.

Montgomery County wrestlers make a strong showing during the first day of the KSHSAA State Wrestling tournament.

The high point of the tournament so far is Sierra Loader from Caney. Loader came out hot in the Girls 115 pound bracket, winning both of her Friday matches. This means Loader will wrestle for the state championship this afternoon in Hays. Elsewhere in girls 3-2-1A, Cherryvale’s Alayanna Barrager, who was a strong contender for a state title at 100 pounds, lost an early match, going 1-1 on the day. She will continue in consolation bracket today, along with teammates Meloy, Crumley, and Lemons who all went 1-1. For Caney, Rigdon and Wintjen also notched 1 win and 1 loss to continue on today.

In 4A girls, Coffeyville’s Chloe Mund and Indy’s Malaia Miller each went 1-1 to wrestle today as well.

On the Boys side, in Class 3-2-1, Caney continues its dominate run with ten of its state qualifiers moving on in the consolation bracket with one win and one lass, while Cherryvale’s Slane, Booe, and Smith also stay alive to wrestle again today.

In 4A boys, Coffeyville’s Westervelt and LeBaron move on in the consolation bracket along with Minnick, Melugin and Eddington from Independence.

Elsewhere, Chanute’s Kiley Dillow will wrestle for her fourth state championship title in the 170 pound weight class today in Salina as she looks to extend her winning streak to 128 straight matches.

Caney Valley Bullpups boy's basketball moves on to the Sub-State semifinal with a 54-34 win over Halstead.

It was a slow start to the game, with the Bullpups trailing the Dragons 15-14 at halftime. Caney stormed out of the break on a 23-5 run, flipping a one-point deficit into a commanding 37-18 lead by the end of the third. Layne Denny, Gavin Messner, and Peyton Darden all finished in double figures.

Head Coach Matt Washburn says they played good defense the whole game, but it took until the third quarter for it to result in fast break points.  He says they have a tough road game ahead.  Caney takes on Neodesha on Tuesday night.  The Bluestreaks survived thier quarterfinal game with a 54-53 win.

The KSHSAA Boys and Girls State Wrestling tournaments get underway today with several area wrestlers looking to make a run at a state title.

On the boys' side in class 3-2-1A, Caney sent 11 grapplers to the state tournament with Sawyer Freisberg landing a #3 at 106 pounds and Austin Freisberg seeded #3 at 190. For the girls, Cherryvale sophomore Alyanna Barrager heads into the state tourney as the #1 seed at 100 pounds.

In class 4A, Field Kindley's Paxton LeBaron is the 5^th seed at 285. In the Girls 4A bracket, Chanute senior Kiley Dillow looks to capture her 3rd state title at 170 pounds. She heads into the state tournament on a stellar 125-match win streak.

The Class 3-2-1A Tournament is being held in Hays on the campus of Fort Hays State, while the 4A tourney takes place in Salina at the Tony's Pizza Event Center. Wrestling gets underway at 9am today and continues through tomorrow.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team earned a much needed win on Sophomore Night, taking down the Pratt Beavers 72-55 at Nellis Hall.

The Red Ravens trailed by one at the game's first media timeout, but would go on a 15-4 run out of the timeout to take a 10-point lead midway through the first half. Despite an average shooting night, a combination of offensive rebounding, forcing turnovers, and limiting turnovers themselves gave the Ravens a 37-27 lead heading into the locker room.

Coffeyville would extend the lead to as much as 22 during the second half, with a number of players stepping up on both ends of the floor. Jeremiah Ibeziako finished with 16 points and three rebounds, with Daniel Ntambwe, Rashid Kuta, and Jack Sorrell also finishing in double figures.

It was the final regular season home game for Kuta, Ntambwe, Konstantin Popovic, and Kaason Thomas.

The Ravens improve to 19-9 with the victory, and currently hold fourth place by way of a tiebreaker with the Cowley Tigers. The Ravens end the regular season on the road, battling Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday and Garden City on Monday.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team was able to snap a brief two-game losing streak, earning a 67-46 win over the Pratt Beavers on Sophomore Night at Nellis Hall.

The Red Ravens opened the game on a 12-0 run, with scores from Aubrey Hishaw, Isabella Pehrson, and Hallie Kitchen. CCC led by 11 points after the opening quarter, and took a 13-point lead to the half.

The Raven defense dialed up the intensity, forcing 22 turnovers and scoring 17 points off those giveaways. Hishaw finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, with Karliey Parker and Pehrson finishing in double figures as well.

All seven departing sophomores (Hishaw, Pehrson, Parker, Kitchen, Nuria Rubio, Sh'Ryah Wright, and Brianna Gist) scored in the final regular season home game of their CCC career.

The Ravens improve to 20-8 on the season, and hold a one-game lead for the fourth seed in the conference standings. The team finishes the regular season on the road, battling Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday and Garden City on Monday.

Field Kindley wrestlers are on their way to Salina to compete in the 4A State Wrestling Championship.

Kansas State is looking to break its seven-game road skid with a win against Colorado. Tonight's meeting is the first this season for the two teams.

The Wildcats are 2-12 against Big 12 opponents. Kansas State is 6-10 in games decided by 10 or more points.

The Buffaloes have gone 12-4 at home. Colorado averages 80.1 points while outscoring opponents by 1.9 points per game.

Coffeyville came away with a 1-1 senior night, with the girls falling short and the boys earning a big win against the Fort Scott Tigera.

The Lady Nado struggled to get into a rhythm offensively in the first half, while the Tigers were able to open up a double-digit lead behind big nights from Abby Gorman and Jacee Rogers. Kaylin Caron had a strong second half, but it was not enough in the 59-38 loss.

The boys were able to snap a losing skid, beating Fort Scott 53-42. The Nado led nearly the entire way, and with junior KK Austin battling foul trouble, numerous players stepped up with Kobe Kirk, K'Shon Feeling, and Weston Wallace-Eubanks all having strong nights. Kirk finished with a game high 18 points, and scored 14 straight for the team in the second half.

Both teams wrap up the regular season with Labette County on Friday night.

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team took care of business in a weekend series against Eastern Oklahoma State College, winning three of four games, with a doubleheader sweep on Friday and splitting a doubleheader on Saturday.

In the series opener, Coffeyville scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, with runs batted in from Colton Reudy, Shawn Bareno, and Coen Miller. The team would add on five runs in the third, and two runs in the fourth, finishing with 12 hits on the day.

The second game of the series saw the Ravens take another early lead, with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and runs batted in from Shawn Bareno and Max Irwin.

Command plagued the Ravens in the lone loss of the series, with the pitching staff allowing 11 walks and nine hits in a 12-1 defeat. Coffeyville could only muster two hits in the game, and grounded into three double plays.

The Red Raven offense found their swing again in the series finale, with 16 runs on 18 hits to claim the series victory.

Coffeyville takes on Hutchinson next in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Februrary 26th.

The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 74-68 loss to the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.

Both offenses struggled to start the afternoon, with the game tied at 14 twelve minutes into the game. The Red Ravens would open up a nine-point edge late in the first half, and led 33-27 heading into the locker room.

The Blue Dragons went on a key 11-0 run near the midway point of the second half, turning a 43-40 deficit into a 51-43 lead. The Red Ravens would be unable to close the gap from that point, and suffer their ninth loss of the season.

Jack Sorrell led CCC with 18 points in the loss, with Rashid Kuta having 15 points, and Ulysses Webb ending with 10 points.

Coffeyville is 18-9 on the season, and in a tie for fourth place with Cowley, Independence, Seward County, and Garden City. The Ravens currently hold the tiebreaker with the best overall record, and host the Pratt Beavers on sophomore night Wednesday at Nellis Hall.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball was unable to complete the regular season sweep of Hutchinson, falling at Nellis Hall 82-69 on Saturday afternoon, despite a career day from sophomore Aubrey Hishaw.

The Ravens began the day with a strong start, leading the Dragons 9-2 four minutes in. The game was tightly contested the entire afternoon, with CCC leading by one after the first quarter, and Hutchinson holding four point leads at both halftime and the end of the third quarter. The Blue Dragons would score 28 points in the fourth quarter, propelling them to 23rd win of the season.

Hishaw finished with a career-high 34 points in the loss, shooting 14-of-25 from the field, along with eight rebounds and four assists. Esme Smith finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Hallie Kitchen had nine points. Sophomore Karliey Parker returned to action following an injury, finishing with six points and three assists in 24 minutes.

The Lady Ravens drop to 19-8 on the season, and will have their regular season home finale on Wednesday night against the Pratt Beavers. CCC is tied with Seward County for the fourth seed in the conference, but holds the tiebreaker after a 2-0 sweep of the Saints this season.

Caney dominates at Class 3-2-1A Regionals in Eureka.

The Caney Bullpups finished Saturday’s regional meet in 1^st place as a team, scoring 69.5 more points than second place Leon-Bluestem. Wrestlers Sawyer Freisberg, Austin Freisberg, Noah Henderson, Raydn Martin, and Boone White won their brackets and were among the 11 Caney wrestlers to earn their way to the state tournament this weekend.

At the same tournament, Cherryvale qualified four wrestlers for state with Caleb Slane and Reyce Booe winning their weight classes.

At the 4A Regional tournament in Paola, Coffeyville-Field Kindley took fifth place overall and will send Jarvis Hall, Brennen Westervelt, and Paxon LeBaron to compete in Salina next weekend.

The Independence Bulldogs took fourth place as a team, with four wrestlers earning a berth in the state tournament.

The Caney Valley boys and girls basketball teams split their regular season finales on the road against Riverton on Tuesday night, with the Lady Bullpups falling 53-31 and the Bullpup boys securing a 53-46 victory.

The loss marks another tough outing for the Caney Valley girls, who have struggled offensively in recent games and were dealt an early setback when defensive standout Ameris King-Dunn suffered an ankle sprain in the first quarter and did not return.  Elyn Washburn led the Lady Bullpups with 14 points and was the only Caney Valley player to reach double figures. Molleigh Kaminska added eight points, Alysa Scott finished with five, Alex Theiss scored three and Kolbi Wheat contributed one point from the free-throw line. Head coach Emily Washburn said she expects King-Dunn to be available for the team’s first-round playoff game Friday at home.

In the nightcap, the Bullpup boys outlasted the Rams in a back-and-forth contest that was decided in the final minutes. Gavin Messner paced Caney Valley with 10 points, the lone player in double figures, while eight players contributed to the scoring effort. Riverton closed within striking distance late, but key miscues down the stretch allowed the Bullpups to pull away. The boys will open postseason play at home Thursday, with both games scheduled for 6 p.m. and broadcast on US 98.

The Caney Valley Bullpups will wrap up the regular season on the road at Riverton on Friday, following a narrow 3-point loss to Oklahoma state-ranked Dewey on senior night.

Caney Valley trailed by one point with 10 seconds remaining but could not force overtime. Head coach Matt Washburn said the Bullpups played strong in the first and fourth quarters but struggled during the middle stretches. He credited his team for battling back late and staying competitive to the final seconds.

Washburn said Riverton presents a similar challenge, featuring multiple perimeter shooters and strong ball movement. He said the Bullpups’ focus will be on defending the arc, limiting turnovers and pushing the tempo in transition. Washburn added the team has reviewed film and is concentrating on finishing the regular season strong rather than looking ahead to the postseason.

Caney Valley enters the matchup with a strong chance to host a first-round playoff game and has built momentum with several road wins late in the season. The regular-season finale will be played in Riverton, with the girls game tipping off at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. on US 98.

Scott Martin is named the new head football coach of the Nowata Ironmen, after a special meeting of the Nowata Board of Education on Tuesday evening.

Nowata High School Athletic Director Derick Ott says there were many applicants for the job.

Martin, a product of Colcord, Okla. has been a head coach at the high school level for 12 seasons and has 29 career wins. Martin has led eight different high schools. He comes to Nowata from Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he served as the offensive line coach.

Ott says Martin stood stood out from the other applicants.

Martin takes over a Nowata program that finished 2-8 last season behind former head coach Chance Juby. Juby was dismissed from his position on Dec. 29, 2025, due to pending felony charges in Rogers County District Court of engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a school. Juby's next court appearance is March 9.

A new season gets underway for the Coffeyville Community College softball program, with the team in action against Eastern Oklahoma State College in a doubleheader.

The Red Ravens finished last season with a 10-30 record, but are making positive progress around the conference. The team brings in one of the largest recruiting classes in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, and the program is up three spots in the preseason predicted order of finish.

Second-year Head Coach Ashton Friend says it's reassuring to be earning respect around the league.

The 2026 Raven roster features 13 true freshmen, and only three returners from last season, with those being Raya Eilert, Katelynn Siess, and Kaylee Henderson. Coach Friend says the girls have bought into the mindset of improving and competing.

CCC has many notable matchups in non-conferece play, with the home opener Friday afternoon against Butler, as well as games against North Central Texas College, Crowder College, and Metropolitan Community College. Coach Friend says the team is being tested early to be prepared for a tough league slate.

The Red Ravens will be at Byars Field on Friday, February 20th, for a 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. doubleheader against Butler.

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Hall of Fame will be inducting three new members during their Red Raven Hall of Fame banquet scheduled for Friday, February 20th.  The 2026 Red Raven Hall of Fame Class includes Buster Douglas (Men's Basketball), Dustin Hurlbutt (Baseball), and Tyler Moore (Baseball).

Douglas was a member of the 1979 Red Raven Men's Basketball Team that played in the 1979 NJCAA National Tournament.  After Coffeyville, Douglas went on to shock the world in 1990 as he defeated Iron Mike Tyson with a tenth-round knockout to claim boxing's title of Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Moore was a member of the 2013 and 2014 Red Raven Baseball Teams.   In Moore's sophomore season, he helped the Ravens reach the Region Playoffs and set a still-standing school record for wins at 38.  During that season, Moore hit .363 with 15 doubles, 3 triples, and 3 home runs with a team-best 55 RBI.   In 2015, as a junior at K-State, Moore was the Wildcats' top hitter with a .302 batting average while also collecting 12 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 31 RBI, and 25 runs scored in 49 games.

Hurlbutt was a member of the 2012 and 2013 Red Raven Baseball Teams.  As a starting pitcher, Hurlbutt helped Coffeyville reach the Region 6 Championship game in both 2012 and 2013.  Hurlbutt was drafted in the 2015 MLB draft in the 16^th round, going 488^th overall to the Oakland Athletics.  In the Minor Leagues, Hurlbutt played in 66 games with 40 starts with an ERA of 3.27.

The Bullpups fall to Dewey in a doubleheader last night in Caney.

The Lady Bulldoggers got the night started with a convincing 60-48 win, the Bulldoggers won a nailbiter, 65-62.

In the girl's game, the Lady Bulldoggers struggled to get going offensively early. Dewey scored just seven points in the first quarter before getting hot from the outside. They led by four at halftime, 26-22.

Dewey turned a four point lead into a 20-point cushion in the second half to put the game away. This three-pointer from Adrianna Hicks added on to a big third quarter.

The Lady Bulldoggers with the win will close out the regular season with an overall record of 18-9.

In the boy's game, Dewey controlled the pace for most of the night. The Bulldoggers held a double-digit lead many times. This three-pointer from Zach Renfroe put Dewey up 11 early in the fourth.

The Bullpups weren't done yet, Caney Valley staged a comeback in the final frame and got as close as one point in the final 10 seconds. That came on this three-pointer from Brayden Messner.

The Bulldoggers held on to complete the sweep and finish the regular season 22-2 overall.

Caney plays next at Riverton on Friday night.  Game coverage will be on US 98.

Field Kindley High School basketball splits in Parsons as the Lady Nado win 55-54 in overtime and the Nado boys fall 53-50.

The Lady Nado were led by Senior Kaylin Caron and Erin Lopez who had 23 and 18 points.  Sophomore Layla Manley added six points including the go ahead free throws in overtime.  KK Austin finished with 22 in the loss for the Nado boy's.

Coffeyville heads to Chanute on Friday.

The youth of the Cherryvale Chargers came ready to play, with the school completing a doubleheader sweep to spoil Fredonia's senior night.

The boys team raced out to an early lead, and were able to close out a 69-56 victory. Freshman Remington John finished with 39 points, while Wyatt Duncan added 11. Kamden Barnett led Fredonia with 24 points in the loss.

On the girl's side, the Chargers keep momentum rolling with a 54-24 victory over Fredonia.

Both teams wrap up the regular season this week, with Cherryvale hosting Eureka, and Fredonia battling Humboldt.

Area wrestlers are preparing for a trip to the state wrestling tournament next weekend.

Field Kindley will send two wrestlers – Chloe Mund at 125 pounds and Mayela Franco at 235 – to next week's 4A State tournament in Salina. Independence will send Addison Augustine at 125, Bailer Henderson at 135, Callile Fairbank at 155, Dannee Anderson at 130, and Malaia Miller in the 100 pound weight class.

In 3-2-1A, Bryleigh Rigdon, Madi Wintjen, Mersaydes Stout, and Sierra Loder will represent Caney while Alayanna Barrager, Alayna Collins, Ciani Meloy, Hannah Lemons, Jasa Crumley. Katie Hester, Ma'Kiah Collins will represent Cherryvale. Barrager enters the state tournament as the top seed in the 100 pound bracket. The Cherryvale girls team finished 4^th out of 47 teams at last weekend's regional tournament in Tonganoxie. The 3-2-1A State Tournament takes place at Fort Hays State University.

Independence High School senior Kamen Sprague commits to continue his baseball career at Coffeyville Community College.

Sprague signed this week to become a Red Raven and play in the Jayhawk Conference this year. He has been a stand out baseball player for IHS for the past four years and also played on the IHS football team. Sprague has played 1^st base and pitcher during his career as a Bulldog.

The Independence-Coffeyville Boys Swim Team earns a second place team trophy at the Osawatomie Inter-League Championship last week.

All team members each earned at least one individual metal. The team earned second in the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay, and third in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Kinney Lesat took second in the 100 yard butterfly, Finian Foraker earned third in the 100 yard freestyle, while Bennett Thompson took second in the 100 yard breaststroke.

The Boys State Swimming Championship will be held later this week in Shawnee Mission.

The South Coffeyville boys basketball season comes to an end in district play after a 56-33 loss to Welch. The defeat eliminated the boys from postseason competition.

The Lady Lions opened district action with a 46-21 victory over Crossover Prep, advancing to the double-elimination portion of the bracket. In their next game, South Coffeyville fell to Welch on Friday, 49-21.

Despite the loss, the earlier win kept the Lady Lions’ postseason run alive. South Coffeyville will travel to Webbers Falls on Thursday to face Webbers Falls at 6PM.

The Field Kindley Powerlifting Team hosts the first annual Montgomery County Powerlifting meet and captures the win.

On the girls side, Avery Sells and Audrey Cavaness earned first place in their respective weight classes.

Boys taking first place include Jefrey Cavaness, Samuel Alonzo Jose, Nathan Magana, Kingston Herring and Drake Strimple. Tyler Penn took 2^nd place while Isaiah Bowie took 3^rd place.

The powerlifting team will be preparing for the state meet coming up in March.

There were mixed results for the Red Ravens on a weekend trip to Colby, with the men's team staying hot and winning their fourth consecutive game, and the women dropping a game for the second consecutive weekend.

The men were able to take an early double-digit lead over the Trojans, and hang on despite an early 10-2 run for Colby in the second half. Jack Sorrell had a career-high 26 points in the win, while Konstantin Popovic finished with 15, and Daniel Ntambwe had 13 points with nine rebounds.

The Lady Ravens had struggles on the offensive end against a tight zone defense from Colby, scoring just six points in the second quarter and failing to climb out of an early deficit. Esme Smith led the team with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Aubrey Hishaw and Mahogany Butler each had 10 points for the Ravens.

The men's team improves to 18-8 with a 12-8 league record, currently sitting in sixth place, but just a game out of second and a half game out of a Top 4 seed. The Lady Ravens fall to 19-7 with a 13-7 record in conference play, currently holding a two game lead for the final Top 4 seed that earns a first round bye.

The teams are off on Wednesday, and host the Hutchinson Blue Dragons on Saturday afternoon at Nellis Hall.

The Caney Valley boys and girls basketball teams made the trip south to Commerce Friday night and came home with a sweep over the Tigers and Lady Tigers. The Lady Bullpups pulled out a tight 49-44 win after digging themselves into an early hole. Commerce jumped out to a 9-0 lead to open the first quarter, but Elyn Washburn quickly erased the panic with eight straight points to pull Caney Valley within one. The Lady Bullpups eventually grabbed the lead later in the quarter and held off Commerce the rest of the way.

Washburn finished with a team-high 19 points to lead the comeback effort. Ameris King-Dunn added nine, while Alexys Theiss chipped in seven. Alysa Scott and Molleigh Kaminska each contributed six points in a balanced scoring effort that helped Caney Valley survive the early scare and secure the five-point victory.

The boys game followed a similar script, because apparently the Bullpups enjoy spotting opponents an early lead before getting to work. After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, Caney Valley responded with a strong team effort and multiple players in double figures to beat Commerce 63-51. Payton Darden led the way with 16 points, Traxcyn Garton added 15, Layne Denny finished with 13, and Gavin Messner scored 10. Both Caney Valley teams return home Tuesday night for Senior Night against the Dewey Bulldoggers.

Field Kindley High School drops both to rival Independence on Homecoming Night, with the Lady Nado falling 49 -27 and the Nado boys 65-62 in overtime.

The Lady Nado got off to a slow start managing only one point in the first quarter and outscored 16-1.  Coffeyville would cut into the lead slightly in the second quarter but a strong second half would seal it for Indy.

In the boy’s game, Indy got out to a strong start leading by double digits in the first before the Nado would answer taking a 33-29 lead into the half.  The Bulldogs kept things close in the second half before forcing overtime.  A Coffeyville turnover would lead to the go ahead layup from Kellen Lanning to get Indy the win.

Coffeyville is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Parsons.

Caney Valley High School sweeps Fredonia on the road, with the Lady Bullpups winning 60-19 and the Bullpup boys winning 79-68.

The Lady Bullpups bounced back after Tuesday’s loss to Cherryvale. Caney Valley came out sharp and took control early, and never gave the Lady Yellowjackets a chance to get back into the game. The Bullpup boys got out to a fast start as well leading by as much as 21. Five different Bullpups finished in double figures.  Layne Denny led the scoring with 14, Gaven Messner added 12, James Kistler 11 and Brayden Messner and Payton Darden both with 10.

Both teams head to Commerce, Oklahoma for tonight's action on US98 starting at 6:00pm.

The Cherryvale Chargers came up on the short end of an exciting game, falling to the Hartford Jaguars 57-50.

It was an entertaining matchup the entire way, with seven points being the largest lead either team held all night. Foul trouble caught up with the Chargers, as Hartford made their run with key starters Wyatt Duncan, Remington John, and Carter Rouselle on the bench.

Coy Wilkinson led the Jaguars in scoring, with solid contributions from Keelan Renfrow and Tyce Ndegwa as well.

Hartford improves to 16-4 on the season, while Cherryvale falls to 8-11.

It's a big week for the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens, as three athletes earn KJCCC Player of the Week honors.

On the basketball court, Jack Sorrell was named KJCCC Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Ravens to wins over Cowley and No. 19 Dodge City. The freshman returned from injury to total 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists across the two games, including his first collegiate double-double on the road at Dodge City.

On the diamond, Nathan Tajchman earned KJCCC Baseball East Division Player of the Week honors after reaching base 11 times in the season-opening four-game series. Tajchman finished the week batting .500 with a .647 on-base percentage. Also recognized was freshman left-hander Coen Miller, named KJCCC Baseball East Division Pitcher of the Week. Miller retired all six batters he faced in his collegiate debut, striking out four and earning the win in Coffeyville’s season-opening doubleheader sweep.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven men's basketball team earned their third straight win, making key plays late to snag a 79-68 victory over the Cloud County Thunderbirds at Nellis Hall.

Both teams got off to relatively slow starts offensively, with the Red Ravens leading 15-14 at the midway point of the first half. Crucial three-point shots from Ulysses Webb, Kaason Thomas, and Konstantin Popovic allowed CCC to take a slim 33-30 lead to the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, Cloud County would take a seven-point lead during a 10-0 run, pinning the Ravens against the wall for the first time all evening. Coffeyville would respond, however, going on a 12-0 run of their own to re-take a five point lead in front of the home fans.

Clutch baskets late from Daniel Ntambwe, Rashid Kuta, and Jack Sorrell allowed the Ravens to earn their 17th victory of the season, and their third consecutive win.

Popovic led the team with 17 points on five made 3-pointers, while Kuta finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Sorrell, Webb, and Ntambwe each finished with 12 points in the win.

Coffeyville is 17-8 on the season, and 11-8 in conference play with five games remaining. The team is currently sitting in seventh place, but just one game back of second, and a half game back of fourth. The Ravens travel to Colby to take on the Trojans on Saturday afternoon.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team were able to get back in the win column at Nellis Hall, using a strong first quarter to cruise to a 76-56 win over the Cloud County Thunderbirds.

The Red Ravens came out of the gate strong, going on a 15-0 run in the game's first six minutes to hold an early double-digit lead. The team held the lead the entire night following the opening minute, with Coffeyville shooting 38% from the field, and winning the rebound battle 51-28.

The Ravens also spread the ball around on the offensive end, with 21 team assists on 28 made field goals.

Aubrey Hishaw led the team with 22 points and 13 rebounds, along with five assists and three steals. Esme Smith finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, and Isabella Pehrson had 16 points with four made 3-point shots.

With the victory, the Ravens improve to 19-6 on the season, with a 13-6 record in conference play, currently holding the fourth place position by one game over Seward County. The Red Ravens are on the road this weekend, making the trip across the state to take on the Colby Trojans on Saturday afternoon.

Caney High School splits their matchup with rival Cherryvale as the Lady Bullpups fall 63-36 and the Bullpup boys win 64-57.

The Lady Bullpups struggled to generate offense against the Chargers as the team's leading scorer on the season, Elyn Washburn, was held to just four points. Molleigh Kaminska lead the team in scoring with 15 and Ameris King-Dunn added 14.

In the boy's game, Caney Valley jumped out to an early lead, but Cherryvale rallied to take the advantage into halftime. The teams traded runs through the third and fourth quarters, with the Bullpups converting in a couple of key moments late. Cherryvale missed several opportunities down the stretch, allowing Caney Valley to secure the victory. Layne Denny and Traxcyn Garton lead Caney each scoring 14 points.

Caney travels to Fredonia to take on the Yellowjackets tomorrow with the Lady Bullpups tipping off at 6:00pm on US98.

The Fredonia Yellow Jackets were able to snap a brief two-game losing streak, putting together a strong performance on both ends of the floor in a 79-19 win over the Bluestem Lions.

A combination of pressure defense that forced Bluestem turnovers, as well as well-designed inbounds plays that led to easy baskets in the paint, the Yellow Jackets were clicking on the offensive end. The team put up 55 points in the first half, and led the game by 46 points as both teams entered the locker room.

Kamden Barnett, who entered the evening fifth in the state in scoring, finished with 23 points. Max Coulter and Josiah Alexander each finished with 14 points as well for the Yellow Jackets. Dax MacDermant led the Lions with 10 points scored in the loss.

Fredonia improves to 10-7 on the season with the victory, while Bluestem falls to 0-14. The Yellow Jackets host Caney Valley tomorrow night, while Bluestem will host Eureka on Friday. Classic Hits 104.1 will have the Cherryvale Chargers hosting Hartford tomorrow evening.

Field Kindley High School boys basketball team falls on the road to Augusta 68-60.

It was a great shooting night for the Orioles who shot over 50% from the floor and from the three. Augusta took the game over late in the second quarter as Brecken Albright would score 18 of his 26 points including four three pointers to help give Augusta the eight point lead heading into the break.

The Nado would make several attempts to chip into the lead but only ever got it as close as six points in the second half with Augusta leading by as much as 12 points. Senior Brody Haskell 15 of his 27 points in the second half to keep the Orioles in the lead. KK Austin had 27 for Coffeyville with Jaxin Hershey adding 11.

The Lady Nado and Nado boys take on rival Independence on Friday night for Homecoming. Tip-off for the girls game will be around 6:00pm with coronation taking place between games.

Unbeaten no more, Kansas takes down undefeated Arizona 82-78.

The Jayhawks were led by two strong performances from Flory Bidunga, who is coming off a Big 12 Player of the Week win, and Melvin Council Jr. Bidunga scored 23 and 10 rebounds is ninth double double of the season and Council Jr. also scored 23 with six rebounds and six assists. Arizona cut the game to one with 34 seconds left but Council Jr would hit three of his four three throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

The Jayhawks are now 19-5 and 9-2 in Big 12 play. They head on the road to take on number five ranked Iowa State on Saturday with pregame starting at 10:30am on 104.1 Greatest Hits.

The Caney Valley Lady Bullpups opened the night with a 42–37 win over Humboldt.  Caney Valley led by as many as 11 just before halftime, only to watch the game tighten up in the second half. Elyn Washburn carried the scoring load, dropping 21 points and doing just enough to keep Caney Valley in front when it mattered.

Once the Bullpups found their rhythm, Humboldt had no answer. The Bullpups rolled to an 85–42 win, with four players hitting double digits. James Kistler with 13, Gavin Messner with 15, Brayden Messner with 16 and Layne Denny leading the scoring with 18.

With the sweep, both the boys and girls improve to 12–5 on the season. Next up, it’s another road trip Tuesday night as the Bullpups and Lady Bullpups head to Cherryvale.

Field Kindley High School basketball split on the road at Pittsburg with the Lady Nado falling 44-29 and the Nado boys winning in overtime 53-52.

It was a rough night offensively for the Lady Nado scoring just 14 point through the first three quarters. Part of the offensive struggles came from Pittsburg being able to shut down Kaylin Caron holding here to just seven points and scoreless during those first three quarters. Erin Lopez gave the Lady Nado 11 points as she scored nine of the first 14 points. Coffeyville did manage to score 15 in the fourth to prevent the running clock and they hope to build on that last quarter success as they welcome in rival Independence on Friday. This loss makes nine straight for the Lady Nado.

The Nado boys got off to a strong start leading 9-0 through the first seven minutes of the game and leading by as much as 12 in the first half. Pittsburg wouldn't go away as they began chipping away the lead trailing but six points at halftime. The game would hover around between a two and six point game for most of the second half before Pittsburg took their first lead of the game late in the fourth. After a Kobi Kirk steal, KK Austin would hit a free throw to tie the game and send it into overtime. Pittsburg would take the lead in OT on a Landyn Jesse layup. Another Austin free throw would cut the lead to one and then Shon Feeling would give them the lead with two free throws of his own. Pittsburg had two good looks at the win with three seconds left but couldn't get the final bucket. Coffeyville heads to a Augusta on Monday for a boys only matchup before returning home to take on rival Independence on Friday.

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven baseball team opens a new season, hosting Southwestern Community College at Walter Johnson Park.

The Red Ravens are coming off of a 35-20 season a year ago, defeating both Butler and Barton in the postseason, before being eliminated with losses to Cowley and Cloud County. The team sent plenty of talent to the four-year level, including Eric Bacon, Landin Midgett, and Jackson Waggoner, among others.  Head Coach Jake Martin says the program will be looking for returning pitchers to take a leap forward this season.

Plenty of spots in the field are featuring new faces, with the team expected to have one of they youngest infields in the Jayhawk conference. Martin says there is a group of sophomores that will be counted on to lead the offense.  The Red Ravens not only bring in exciting talent from the high school level, but also added a pair of players from the transfer portal this offseason. Martin says both guys will have key roles on the team this season.

Coffeyville is predicted to finish fourth in the KJCCC East Division this season, receiving one first-place vote. 

Coffeyville Community College Red Raven football puts the finishing touches on the 2026 Signing Day class.

CCC welcomes plenty of incoming freshmen from the four state area, with Chanute's Kris Harding and Labette County's Brycen Dickens among the notable Kansas commits for the Ravens. Coffeyville also made significant moves in the states of Lousiana and Georgia.  Head Coach Nick Dobler says the program is building pipelines to regions all over the United States.

Coffeyville lost players in nearly every position group room on the roster to the Division 1 level since the end of the regular season. Dobler says they have strong classes in a number of key positions.  Red Raven football will officially kick off spring ball in April, but are already doing preparation for the 2026 season now. Dobler says now the attention shifts to the current guys on the roster.

Coffeyville went 7-3 last season, finishing in second place in the conference.

The Independence-Coffeyville boys swim team takes sixth place at the Campus Senior Night meet.

The team scored points in all relay events during the meet. Placing fifth in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:48.12. The relay team included Finian Foraker, Graham Leeds, Sam Stukesbary and Bennett Thompson. The also finished sixth in the 200 Medley Relay and seventh in the 400 Free Relay.

In individual events, Lestat Kinney finished third in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:06.21. Bennett Thompson placed sixth in the 100 Breaststroke. Sam Stukesbary finished 11th in the 50 Freestyle and 13th in the 100 Backstroke. Graham Leeds placed 10^th in the 200 Individual Medley and also competed in the 100 Freestyle.

The team finished the meet with 181 team points.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team was unable to sweep the regular-season series with the Barton Cougars, suffering a road defeat 89-66 on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars started the game hot from the floor, with the duo of Aris Rodriguez and Sebastian Muchitsch each converting on their first three shots of the day, leading to an early seven-point lead. Coffeyville would respond, behind a strong effort from Daniel Ntambwe, who finished the day with a season-high 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Red Ravens.

Following a tightly contested first half, which saw Barton take a 41-34 lead to the locker room, the Cougars opened the second half on a 13-4 run to open the lead up to 16 points. Barton's strong offensive day continued, with the Cougars finishing the afternoon 56% from the field in the victory.

Freshman Jeremiah Ibeziako added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench for Coffeyville, but no other Ravens reached double figures in the loss.

Coffeyville stumbles to 14-8 on the season, and an even 8-8 in conference play. The Ravens return home on Wednesday night to host the Cowley Tigers, in what will be a critical game for playoff seeding.

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College women's basketball team had an unsuccessful trip to Great Bend on Saturday, falling to the Barton Cougars 60-53 in conference play.

Coffeyville opened the game strong, leading 17-6 after the opening quarter after shooting 64% in the game's first ten minutes. Barton would respond, outscoring the Ravens by the same 17-6 margin in the second quarter to send the game to hafltime tied at 23.

Barton snatched a three-point lead at the end of the third, behind eight points in the quarter from sophomore guard Alaina Eck. Despite a stronger offensive output in the fourth from CCC, it would not be enough, as Barton shot 50% in the fourth quarter, as well as converted seven of ten free throws.

The Cougars flipped the script from the season's opening matchup, winning the rebound battle 44-33 after Coffeyville dominated on the glass at Nellis Hall, winning the margin 51-28.

Sophomore Isabella Pehrson had 15 points to lead the Red Ravens. Freshman Esme Smith added 14 points and nine rebounds in another strong showing. Karliey Parker would exit the game early in the third quarter with a right ankle injury, and would not return to action.

CCC is 17-5 on the season, with an 11-5 league mark, currently holding fourth place in the Jayhawk conference. The team returns home on Wednesday night, where they will host the Cowley Tigers.
