A freshman athlete at Coffeyville Community College has already made a name for herself in multiple sports.
Raya Eilert is from Topeka, Kansas, and is a freshman outfielder on the Red Raven softball team, and expected to play a key role in the first season for Head Coach Ashton Friend. But, softball is not the only sport Eilert has proven to be talented in.
Eilert placed second overall in her first collegiate powerlifting competition, including first in her age group, second in squat, and second in deadlift. The powerlifting team also won the Collegiate Championships Team Championship during the competition held in Virginia Beach.
Eilert says she's been working hard to balance both her athletic responsibilities.
Although softball and powerlifting are drastically different in many ways, Eilert says the mental side of them are actually quite similar.
Raya will continue competing with the powerlifiting team at CCC, and can be seen on the softball field beginning in the 2025 season.
