Both Field Kindley High School basketball teams pick up the wins in their second games of the Nowata Tournament. The Lady Nado beat Oklahoma Union 56-39 and the Nado boy's won over Chelsea 44-31.
Coffeyville and OKU kept things close in the first quarter with both scoring 12, but the Lady Nado would take a commanding lead in the second quarter. Coffeyville scored 23 of their 56 in the quarter with nine points coming from the free throw line. Good defense in the third quarter would see that lead grow even more outscoring OKU 14-5. Seniors Erin Lopez and Kaylin Caron finished with 25 and 19 and Freshman Leah Tatman in her first varsity start added six. The Lady Nado play Fairland for the Consolation Championship.
The Nado boys got out to a lead early up 15-7 at the end of the first quarter. Coffeyville would start the second quarter though on a seven minute drought. Chelsea hit two quick threes in the early part of the quarter cutting the lead to 15-13. The Nado locked in on defense to hold their lead until the scored six quick points in at the end of the first half getting their back up to eight, 21-13. The Nado would slowly extend that lead outscoring Chelsea 10-9 in the third and 13-9 in the fourth. KK Austin and K'Shon Feelin both had 12 and Jaxin Hershey had 10. The Nado play Nowata for the Consolation Championship.
