Ruby Louise Walker, a spirited, reliable, and funny soul, passed away on September 26, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on January 1, 1942 to Lonnie and Emma Thompson (Muller) , in Liberty, KS. Ruby was a beacon of joy, resilience, and humor. She lived her life with an infectious energy that was impossible not to love, and her laughter was music to the ears of those fortunate to know her.

Ruby was a woman of many talents, but her favorite pastime was going to the casinos with Deb and playing Bingo with her mother. She found joy in the simplest things, turning everyday moments into unforgettable memories with her unique blend of comedy and charm. Beyond her love for games, Ruby was a devoted wife to her late husband, Howard (Butch) Walker, whom she married on August 7, 1973. Their love story was a testament to the power of commitment and the strength of enduring companionship.

Ruby is survived by her sister MaryAnn Guier, her loving children Rhonda Hibbard (Mike), Deborah Brubaker, Howard Walker, Jr. and Michelle Bussen (Chris), eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who will continue to honor their mother's legacy by living their lives with the same spirited tenacity and sense of humor that Ruby demonstrated throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Butch, daughter, Patricia Mae Smith, two brothers, Bill & Pat Thompson and one grandson, Clay Hibbard.

When Kara Jo Peters Krumwiede passed from this life unexpectedly on September 13, 2023 at the age of 36 years old, her absence was felt deeply by all those who knew her. Anyone that crossed paths with Kara knew that she was the most fiercely stubborn, hard-working, tenacious, and determined person you would ever meet. Despite that outer toughness, she was incredibly kind, thoughtful, loving, and nurturing. 

Kara was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on May 29th, 1987 to Cliff and Denise (Miner) Krumwiede at a young age, Kara was her own person. Denise dressed Kara in beautiful lace-trimmed dresses and bows on Easter Sunday, but by the time Kara got home from church, she would be missing the bows from her hair, her dress would be dirt-stained, and her knees scraped. 

In many ways, Kara was a warrior at heart. While growing up, Kara wanted to prove to everyone that she could do anything; not necessarily out of a competitive drive to prove she was better than anyone else, but rather to show the world that she was strong and capable. And, she honestly believed she could do anything she set her mind to. If there was anything in life that was hard, she craved the challenge. Kara’s warrior heart was best exhibited in her passion to excel in karate, an activity she enjoyed since her adolescent years. 

Kara was married to Stan Peters in 2007, gaining a “bonus mom” through Stan’s mother, Dawn From. Kara gave birth to two wonderful children, Caden and Kaci, and was a dedicated, fun-loving, and nurturing mother. Her children meant more to her than anything else in the world. She was always busy taking pictures, planning adventures, or soaking in the special moments with each child whether that was hunting insects with Caden or brushing Kaci’s hair. Her children are her legacy, not only because she loved and cared for them, but because they also capture her personality and embody her spirit better than words could ever articulate. 

Kara was proud of her career as a technical writer for Baker Hughes, having worked with the company for fourteen years. As a long-term employee, Kara made many friends in her workplace who were like family to her. She embraced every opportunity to grow professionally and make herself the best she could be. 

Not knowing it would be the last time, Kara’s family was grateful to spend one last gathering together on Labor Day nearly a week before her passing. They all spent the time laughing and enjoying one another’s company. Kara, wanting to be the best at everything, always strove to be the “best aunt” to her many nieces and nephews. 

But, anyone who knew Kara knew she WAS the best. She didn’t have to struggle to prove that. It was something so clearly evident to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Kara is survived by her beloved children, Caden Peters and Kaci Peters; by her loving parents, Cliff and Denise Krumwiede; by her siblings, Cassie Romberg and her husband Jason, Jacob Krumwiede and his wife Lindsey Crawford, Kelsie O’Brien and her husband James, Kala Schneider and her husband Scott, Benjamin Krumwiede and his wife Nikki, Kristi Abbey and her husband Kevin, Katie Conrad and her husband Brendan, Jedidiah Krumwiede, Kale Krumwiede, and Kwinn Krumwiede; by her children’s father, Stan Peters, and Stan’s mother Dawn From; and by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Donald Edwin Ellerman, age 81, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Medicalodges of Coffeyville on Midland. 

Don was born on February 28, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky to Jack and Katherine (Hobbs) Wallin.  He grew up in Bardstown, Kentucky where he graduated from Bardstown High School.  Don then graduated from the University of Louisville where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.  After that he graduated from Patterson School of International Diplomacy and Economics. 

On August 12, 1967, he married the love of his life, Helen Cochran in Marion, Kentucky.  Following their marriage they made their home in Lexington, Kentucky.  From this union a daughter, Sarah, was born. 

In 1975, Don had the opportunity to teach Economics and U.S. Government at Coffeyville Community College where he enjoyed a 30-year teaching career.  At his retirement, it was estimated that he had taught 16,000 students.  Don was a devoted husband and father.  He loved traveling and history. 

He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Ellerman and his daughter, Sarah (Ellerman) Smith and husband, Brad of Alexandria, Virginia. 

Following Don's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. 

A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.  Details will be announced at a later date.

Theresa Ann Moore, age 50, of Caney, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

She was born in Sedan, Kansas, on January 15, 1973, to Randall and Linda (Baughman) Mellen.  Theresa grew up and attended school in Caney, graduating from Caney Valley High School.

Theresa spent her life in service to others, first as a Certified Nurse's Aide, and later as a Teacher Aide in the Caney Schools, where she imparted not only knowledge but also values of compassion and thoughtfulness to her students. Her dedication extended beyond her profession as she was actively involved in scouting with her children. Theresa was also an avid crafter, a hobby that brought joy and creativity to both her life and those around her.

Theresa is survived by her children, Christian, Gabby, Joshua, and Gracie Moore, her mother, Linda Mellen, her brother and sister-in-law, Nathan and Regina Mellen and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Mellen.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:30 am at the El Cado Cemetery, west of Caney with Father James Schibi of Holy Name Catholic Church officiating. Larry Dean Moore, a man celebrated for his dedication, loyalty, and reliability, not to mention a sense of humor that could make a statue crack a smile passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Larry, born on July 25, 1960, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Milton and Leona (Claypool) Moore.   A man of many hats, he carried his love for welding from his home in Wann, Oklahoma, to the jobsites of his employer, Emerald Transformer.

A man of simple pleasures, Larry found joy in the rustic pastimes of horseback riding, roping, farming, fishing, and hunting. However, his favorite pastime was cracking open a cold one with family and good friends. As they say, "The best beer in the world is the open one in your hand." He was a man who understood that life is better enjoyed in the company of loving family and good beer.

He was a beloved husband, married to Linda Moore since August 5, 1985. As reliable as a Swiss watch, as loyal as a Labrador, and as dedicated as a postman in a snowstorm, Larry was a family man through and through.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, who always appreciated his uncanny ability to turn even the most mundane of chores into a comedic spectacle.  His memory will be cherished by his children, Traci Bedell and husband, Jerry of Nowata, Oklahoma; Kyle Moore of Noxie, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Chelcie Moore, Calli Gearhart and Mahaley Bedell; a brother, Robert Moore and wife, Karen of Wann, Oklahoma; sisters, Bonnie James and husband, Mike of Caney, Kansas, Jody Longpine and husband, Dale of Independence, Kansas along with numerous extended family members and close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Leona Moore, and a brother, Kevin Moore.

Betty J. Van Wey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 99 and seven days on September 18, 2023, at Medicalodges on Midland in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on September 11, 1924, in Angola, Kansas to Byron Humphrey and Gladys O. (Young) Carr. She grew up in the Angola area and graduated from Labette County High School. Shortly after graduation, Betty and her family moved to Coffeyville. It was in Coffeyville that she met the love of her life, Paul C. Van Wey, on January 6, 1950, they were wed at the Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Their love story would span over the next two decades and they had one son.  Paul preceded Betty in death on December 7, 1970

Betty's long-time employment began at the Prescription Shop in Coffeyville before she later joined McCartney's Office Supply and Service Office Supply until her retirement. Betty was a volunteer in the CRMC Auxiliary for many years. She had a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to serve others.

A faithful member of First Baptist Church for over eighty years, Betty found great joy in her spiritual life. She served as a faithful servant in the church community and was treasured by many as a dear friend. One of the ways she ministered to others was through sending heartfelt cards filled with encouragement, birthday wishes, sympathy messages, or simply letting someone know she was thinking of them.

Betty's love and dedication extended beyond her church community; it also encompassed her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with them and made lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she always held them close to her heart.

Outside of her work and volunteer activities, Betty pursued several hobbies and interests. She faithfully walked every day, recognizing the importance of taking care of her health, strength, and mobility. She also enjoyed bird watching and working in her flower garden. Sunflowers and Black-Eyed Susan's held a special place in her heart, bringing beauty and joy to her surroundings.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, sister Charlene Harris, and brother Robert Carr. She is survived by her son Paul Michael "Mike" Van Wey, granddaughters Jenifer Jean Aguirre and husband Bill Hallum, Heather Griffith, as well as great-grandchildren Mitchell, Christian, and Jesse. She also leaves behind her sister Janice Royer and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A viewing will be held on September 22, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel located at 2405 Woodland Ave in Coffeyville, Kansas. Rita M. Scott, a devoted homemaker and loving family member, passed away on September 18, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on June 7, 1931, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Walter King and Gertrude (Sneed) King.

Rita was a woman of immense gratitude, never wanting to burden others with her needs. Her humble and kind nature touched the lives of everyone she met. She found contentment in what she had and never desired unnecessary material possessions.

Rita attended school in Coffeyville and completed her education there as well. She deeply cherished her family and took pride in being a devoted wife to Donald Scott, who survives her. Together they built a joyful 74 years of life centered around their children and grandchildren.

While maintaining a warm household for her loved ones, Rita found solace in various hobbies and interests throughout her life. She enjoyed diving into the pages of books, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles, and above all else, treasured spending time with her family.

One of Rita's proudest accomplishments was raising her children with love and care. She provided them with a nurturing environment and instilled values that will carry on for generations to come. Rita's unconditional love created an unbreakable bond within the family.

Rita M. Scott is survived by her husband Donald Scott of the home; children Linda and husband Monte Compston; Nancy and husband Stan Cole; Michael and J. Lee Scott; ten grandchildren; as well as her brother Kenneth King.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Eugene “Gene” P. Despaw, 89, a proud veteran of the Army passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2023, in Longview, Texas surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Beulah Despaw, his lovely wife of 30 years, Bonnie Despaw; siblings Dale, Wayne, Stanley Jr., Beverly, and Janet.  He is survived by two daughters, Melanie Baker and husband Gary of Longview, Texas; Nicole Young of Branson, Missouri; brother Allen Despaw, Sr. of Wolcott, New York; step-daughters Carrie Johnson of Springfield, Missouri; Brenda West and husband David of Coffeyville, Kansas; Kathy Pitts and husband Chuck of Coffeyville, Kansas; companion Brenda Hamm of Trenton, North Carolina; his three fur babies Tracy, Miracle, Momma; 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

At the age of 17, Gene enlisted in the Army and then again in 1955.  He valued his service and attained the rank of Corporal.  After his military service, he ran big equipment, worked in the coal mines, was a mechanic and then he became an on the road truck driver for approximately 30 years.  After retiring from being a truck driver, worked at Thompson Brothers in Coffeyville until his retirement. 

Gene was known for his great guitar playing and was in several country bands.  He loved singing and playing music with his family, watching WWE wrestling and the good ole westerns.  He was always tinkering on cars or lawn mowers. 

Graveside services will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville, Kansas.

Norma Jane (Simons) Hamm died suddenly with her closest loved ones by her side on July 28th, 2023. She was 90 years old.

Dr. Jerry Hamm was 90 years old when he joined his wife Norma and other loved ones in heaven on September 6th, 2023.

Norma had a great love for flowers and had requested that all flowers to be white in color. She found great beauty in all white flowers.  A public inurnment will immediately follow the service at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Jerry and Norma will be at rest next to their daughter, Nancy Dixon.

Loyd Alvin Fields, age 77, went home to Jesus on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after complications from open heart surgery. 

Loyd was born on his childhood farm north of Caney, Kansas on January 12, 1946, to Clyde and Vera Fields.  Loyd graduated from Caney High School in 1964.  Later from Kansas State University in 1969 with a BS in Horticulture. 

Loyd married Patty Sullivan on July 29, 1967.  After a short employment with the Topeka Park Service, he and Patty returned to Caney to purchase and operate the Fields Greenhouses and Flower Shop.  After its closing in 1986, Loyd farmed and ranched. 

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Vera Fields; stepmother, Nina Fields; his brother, Dwight Fields; sister-in-laws, Marianna Brant and Marsha Fields; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Sullivan. 

He is survived by his wife, Patty; his sons, Kelly and wife, Sara of Nixa, Missouri, Shane and wife, Marisha of Sedan, Kansas; grandchildren, Josh and Kayla Fields, Kelsey Fields, Ella Edwards, Ester Dancey, Emmett Fields, Hadley Fields, Hayden Fields, Harley Fields, and Hayven Fields; great-grandchildren, Ava, Paisleigh, Greyson and Declan; sister, Linda and husband, Warren Newby; brother-in-law, Richard Brant; sister-in-law, Carla Sullivan, 2 step-sisters, Sandra Nesbitt and Sheryl Maxwell, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roland Glen Blackburn, known to many as Glen, passed away on September 7, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital. Born to Roland Mitchner and Gladys Irene (Jones) Balckburn on February 3, 1953, in Independence, Kansas, he lived a life filled with dedication, love for his family, and unyielding commitment to his work.

Glen dedicated most of his career to serving others. Throughout his 45 years as a police deputy and first responder, Glen exhibited profound compassion in his interactions with others. He strived not only to find resolutions to challenging situations but also aimed to inspire individuals he encountered to transform their lives positively instead of simply punishing them. This dedication to promoting change made him immensely respected within the community.

He worked for ACC in the maintenance department for a remarkable 30 years before retiring. However, retirement could not keep him away from what he loved. He returned to work at Cessna for an additional five years before joining the Elk County Road and Bridge team until his second retirement. Notably, Glen was known for working two jobs simultaneously throughout most of his adult life-a testament to his strong work ethic and unwavering determination.

Beyond his professional life, Glen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. His wife Karla L. (Kill) Blackburn was the love of his life, and their bond exemplified true partnership throughout the years. As a father to Tyson Blackburn and Scott Blackburn, Glen poured his heart into being a good dad.

Glen found immense joy and delight in being a grandfather. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart which was reciprocated with equal adoration by them. Despite being 70 years old at the time of his passing, Glen's spirit remained youthful when it came to interacting with children. He would play and engage with them like a child himself-always reminding them of their importance and making sure they felt seen and heard.

In addition to family bonds, Glen had numerous hobbies and interests that brought him fulfillment outside of work. He particularly enjoyed quail hunting and fishing excursions surrounded by nature's tranquility. In addition, shooting guns on shooting ranges-and essentially any sporting activity that allowed him to embrace camaraderie through sportsmanship.

Education played an important role in Glen's life. He attended school in Elk Valley and ultimately graduated from high school in 1972. Seeking further knowledge, he pursued his education at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kansas. There, Glen completed his Associates Degree in Police Science-a testament to his passion for serving and protecting his community.

Glen was known for his quick wit, comical nature, and a penchant for history that made him a captivating conversationalist. His memory was astounding, enabling him to recall details with impeccable accuracy. In addition, he possessed a talent for impersonations that brought joy and laughter to those around him. Though he appeared as a tough guy, deep down he possessed the heart of a gentle giant-a big teddy bear ready to offer comfort and support whenever needed.

Glen will be profoundly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him during his lifetime. He leaves behind cherished memories for all who were fortunate enough to experience the love and warmth he exuded effortlessly.

Glen's memory will continue through his sons Tyson Blackburn and Scott Blackburn, and wife Tina, his sisters Jane Wassom, and Rowlinda (Jones) Justus. The legacy of Glen Blackburn will be carried forward by his grandchildren Cassidy Brenner and her husband Eric Brenner, Kimberly Clubine, Cheyenne Stone and her husband Josh Stone-all of whom held a special place in his heart. Additionally, Glen was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren who brought endless joy and laughter into his life. He has now joined his beloved wife Karla in Heaven with their Lord and Savior. Also at rest are his parents Gladys and Rowland Jones, and Roland Blackburn as well as sisters Dianne Morrison and Iown Adamson.

The services to honor and celebrate the life of Glen Blackburn will take place at the United Methodist Church in Longton, Kansas, under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The visitation will be held on September 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held the following day, September 15, 2023, commencing at 10:00 AM. George Cleaveland Cantrell, 92, of Coffeyville Kansas passed away at Medicalodge on Midland on September 7, 2023. George was born in LaGrange, Georgia, on September 17, 1930, to Beth Sheba and Lawrence Cantrell. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he met the love of his life Geraldine Marie Davis.

 George married Geraldine and they made their home in Wellington, Kansas and had four sons, Michael, Drew, James, and Ted. He worked at many different jobs to provide for his family, instilling in his sons the importance of work. One of his favorite sayings was "busy hands are happy hands." Anyone who knew him knew he loved to whistle and sing, he always smiled.  He was everyone’s friend.

The family moved from Wellington to Coffeyville in 1968 where he opened Cantrell's Davis Paint which later became Cantrell's Jewelry.  When it closed, he went to work for Walmart and eventually retired from there as a manager. In his later years he enjoyed mowing his yard and could be found riding his mower around the neighborhood to visit friends and family.

George is survived by Michael, Drew, James (Sonya), and Ted (Heather) Cantrell. He is survived by grandchildren Marcia (Matt) Egermeier, Charles Cantrell, John (Heather) Cantrell, Joe (Alissa) Cantrell, Dave (Julia) Cantrell, and Dustin (Alicia) Cantrell, and Cassandra, Steven, and Anthony Cantrell. He is survived by numerous great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his mother and father and all of his siblings and his wife of over 69 years, Geraldine Cantrell.

Memorial services will be held at the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville on Tuesday, September 12th at 11am with visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11am. Inurnment will follow at Robbins Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to the love of his life, Geraldine. Brian Lee DePriest, 60, of Caney, Kansas passed away on September 5, 2023 to go to his forever home in Heaven.  He was born in Independence, Kansas to Marilyn and Charles DePriest.  He was raised in Caney, Kansas, graduating from Caney Valley High School in 1980. 

After high school, he became Assistant Manager at Town and Country Grocery.  He then went into Ford Dealerships selling auto parts for several years.  From there he was self-employed as an artisan for several years before working for Auto Zone ultimately as their commercial sales manager. 

Brian was a private person and had tremendous love for the outdoors, fishing, and biking.  He was happiest when with his family or on his motorcycle.  He was a member of Tyro Christian Church and was strong in his faith throughout his life. 

Brian married Cindy Vandeventer in 1980.  In 1982, one daughter, Jennifer Lynn DePriest joined this union. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Charles Oscar DePriest, brother Wayne DePriest, sister Doris Ann DePriest Johnston, and grandson Aiden Wayne Hunsucker. 

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Lynn DePriest, grandson Brandon James Hunsucker Jr., his mother Marilyn Ann DePriest, and nephew Ethan Alexander Johnston. 

Following Brian’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

Graveside Memorial Services will take place at the Havana Cemetery in Havana, Kansas on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

Brandon Wayne Neal, 39, of Coffeyville passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his family at his side.

Brandon was born on September 24, 1983, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Stuart and Donna (Nance) Neal. He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended Garfield Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 2002, he

completed his education at Coffeyville Community College. Brandon lived an enriching life of 39 years in his hometown. He was resilient, always inspiring those around him with his fervor for life and his unwavering love for his family.

Brandon was a devoted husband to Jessica Neal, whom he married on August 8, 2015, and a proud and loving father to Harper Joy, who was his world. He was the cherished son of Stuart and Donna Neal, the beloved brother of Terry Neal, the adored son-in-law to Joe and Linda Briggs and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His family was the center of his universe, and he was the cornerstone of theirs. Professionally, Brandon was a skilled computer technician, applying the same dedication to his work as he did to his personal life.

Beyond his family and career, Brandon was passionate about basketball, running a basketball website and avidly supporting the Los Angeles Lakers and the Las Vegas Raiders. He also enjoyed WWE Wrestling and spent his leisure time working on computers. In his high school years, he played the trumpet in the band, a testament to his multifaceted interests. His resilient spirit and inspiring demeanor will be deeply missed by his loved ones and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and relatives later in the day from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 402 West 8th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Diane Massey officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.

John E. Kidwell passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

John was born in Falmouth, Kentucky on a snowy day in January 1941.  He grew up in Erlanger, Kentucky.  John graduated high school and furthered his education at the University of Cincinnati where he earned his bachelor's degree. 

During his many years in Coffeyville, he was active in both business and community functions.  He and his wife, Barbara, were the owners and operators of The Home Lumber and Supply Co. for a number of years.  He and Barbara then opened Kidwell Insurance Associates, the only senior services agency in Montgomery County. 

John's community activities included being a member of the Montgomery County Economic Development Authority, an organization that brought both American Insulated Wire and Cessna to Montgomery County.  It later assisted in Amazon coming to Coffeyville.  John was also on the committee that designed and located the Coffeyville Public Safety Building for both the fire department and the police department.  He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville. 

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Barbara Kidwell of the home; his son, Jack Kidwell and wife, Donna and their three children, Harry, Epifany and George; his daughter, Stacy Kidwell and her daughter, Maggie, along with numerous extended relatives and friends.  John was preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Annette Kidwell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5th from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Diane Massey will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery in Fredonia, Kansas.
