Dorothy Mae Sprague age 95 of Coffeyville passed from this earthly life on November 26, 2022, at Medicalodge on Midland.

Dorothy was born on November 2, 1927, in Lenapah, OK to Walter and Laura (Vannoster) Bean. She was raised in Nowata County and attended school at Bellevue School. She met Franklin Sprague, and the couple was united in marriage on November 20, 1944, in Independence, KS. They made their home in Coffeyville where they started their family and were blessed with two sons and a daughter. Dorothy worked in the office for Liebert Brother’s as well as caring for the home and children. She was a faithful member of the River Of Life Tabernacle where she taught Sunday school for many years. Dorothy and Franklin enjoyed working out in their garden and spending time with their children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking. Dorothy appreciated being able to prepare a meal for the masses and the comfort that being around a table of family and good food brought.

Dorothy will be missed most by her children; Carolyn Brooks and her husband Joe of Coffeyville, KS, Jerry Sprague of Caney, KS, and Rocky Sprague and his wife Carol of Bella Vista, AR, 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 72 years, Franklin, her brothers Leonard and Lester, and granddaughter Crystal.

Services honoring Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the River of Life Tabernacle west of Coffeyville with her son and son-in-law Rocky and Joe officiating. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.

Friends are invited to sign the register and support the family on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at David W. Barnes Funeral Home.

Jimmy Noble Davis, 79, of Rural Independence, Kansas was called to rest on the morning of November 20, 2022.

Jimmy was born in Wichita, Kansas to James C Davis, and wife Dovea N. Davis on April 9, 1943. He graduated from Wayside High School. He married Betty J. Ross on January 13, 1962, in Miami, Oklahoma. They spent most of their life in Rural Jefferson and had three children together. Early in life, Jimmy worked in construction, and truck driving but his true passion was in ranching. He was able to spend most of his life on his family farm with his wife, tending to their cattle, horses, and ranch dogs. He was also a lifelong member of AA, where he was able to form many long-lasting friendships. He loved spending his evenings listening to old country music, and polka. Jimmy’s motto in life was “To Thine Own Self Be True.”

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Betty Davis of Rural Independence, children Stephen Davis, of Rural Independence, and Jeanette Davis of Andrews, Texas, and 5 grandchildren Tyler, Brandi, Sara, Jayde, and Kross, 11 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Wally Davis.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dovea Davis, his daughter Michelle Davis, and sister Carol VanBuren.

Shirley Jean McClure age 79 of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on November 18, 2022, at Medicalodges of Coffeyville surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born in Chanute Kansas on June 29, 1943, to Joe and Margaret (Hanson) Perkins. The family made their home in South Coffeyville and that is where Shirley was raised and attended grammar school, graduating from Lenapah High School. After high school she began working for Old Yellow Front, after raising her children Shirley also worked for Western Publishing, and enjoyed owning and operating S&K Antiques with her husband. Shirley fell in love with her classmate and friend, Kenneth McClure and on December 27, 1962, after a church service the couple were united in marriage in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. To this union the couple was blessed with a son and two daughters.

Shirley loved being a wife a mother and a granny. she also enjoyed collecting Raggedy Ann dolls, quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, camping, and fishing for anything that would bite. Shirley was the definition of a good Christian woman, she was kind, loyal, giving, and she respected and valued her marriage.

Shirley will be missed most by her husband Kenneth, daughters; Tracy Norris and her husband Geoff and Nancy Potter and her husband James, daughter-in-law Tricia McClure, her brothers; Clifford Perkins and his wife Carol, Mike Perkins, and Bob Perkins and his wife Dorothy, grandchildren; Nick Norris and his wife Shawnna, Toni McClure and her husband Matt, Samantha Pomeroy and her husband Jeff, Christopher Potter, and Hailey Potter, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She now rests with her parents and her Father and Mother in-law William Oscar and Pearl McClure, a sister in-law Sherry Perkins and her son Vic McClure.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma with Pastor Jonathan Filson officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Tommy (Tom) Dale Jones peacefully moved on to his heavenly home on November 16, 2022 and decided to “call it a day” after a long battle with illness. Tom was born on February 1, 1966, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Arthur (Art) Jones and Mae Wieland. Tom was the youngest of five children. Philip Jones (Patti) of Bartlesville, OK, Bruce Jones of Vinita, OK, Laurie Jones of Coffeyville and Steven (Steve) Jones of Coffeyville, Kansas.

Tom is survived by his four children, Kristy, Kimberly, Tommy, Chuck. Tom is also survived by his four siblings, 8 grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews and so many friends and loved ones. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mae and his four grandparents, Julia Whipple (Casanover), Harold Wieland, Gracie Jones (Hull) and Sylvester Jones.

Tom attended multiple schools during his youth. Tom worked many jobs and was always a phone call away when something wasn’t working or running quite right. To his family and friends, he was the go-to handy-man and car mechanic. Many times, he worked on things out of love for all of those he knew and even some he did not. Tom enjoyed working with his hands and had a passion for woodworking, crafting, and building things. Tom also had a love for cars. He loved to work on, drive, and even race those cars. You could be sure that Tom always had a story to tell when a car was brought up in a conversation. He was an avid river fisherman and if you hadn’t heard from Tom in a few hours, there was a high probability that he was sitting on the riverbank and waiting to catch a few catfish. Tom was the life of the party and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was genuinely a one-of-a-kind person and as he would often say, he was truly a “god’s child”. Tom had a strong faith and did his best to honor his faith through action and love for all around him.

Visitation will be held on November 21, 2022, at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Graveside service will be held the following day, November 22, 2022, at the Pavilion at Robbins Cemetery West of Coffeyville at 10:00 AM.

Louis Edward Amann of Dearing, Kansas passed away at Medicalodge on Midland in Coffeyville, Kansas on November 16, 2022, at the age of 86.

Louis was born on Sunday, May 24, 1936, to Leonard and Jenny (Pontius) Amann in Arkansas City, Kansas.   Louis grew up in Wichita with his parents and two brothers and two sisters.  He graduated high school from Wichita East and completed his education at Wichita State with a bachelor’s degree in drafting.

June 17, 1959, Louis married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Cain in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  The couple made their home in Wichita, eventually making their way back to Coffeyville are to be closer to Barbara’s family making it their forever home.  Louis and Barbara had three children, Ronald, Roger, and Debra.  Barbara preceded him in death on March 18, 2011.

In his early career Louis worked on Cessna Aircraft where he was a draftsman for Boeing-Beech.  After moving to Coffeyville, he began working for Halliburton where he was a sheet metal supervisor.  Having the opportunity to become a draftsman again and mechanic he began working at Spears Manufacturing until he retired.

Attending church was very important to Louis and attended Dearing Christian Church until his health began to fail.  Louis had a great love for the Lord, studying God’s word and striving to live his life in accordance with God’s will for his life.  He enjoyed fishing, time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.  He was an avid Chiefs fan and proudly wore their Super Bowl Championship hat.  Those who knew him knew that he was super talented, he could design and make just about anything, he was a Jack of all Trades and a Master of many.

Louis was loved by his family and will be greatly missed by his children: Ron Amann and his wife Reena, of Dearing, Kansas, Roger Amann and his wife Donna, of Coffeyville, Kansas, Debra Castorena of Edna, Kansas; grandchildren: Loretta and husband Aaron Wilson, Rhonda and husband Mike Burroughs, Roger Amann and wife Christina, Anthony Amann, Roberta and husband Chad Sherman, Nathan Humphrey, Tamera Weber and Monica Castorena; 21 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 3 more on the way.

Kathleen (Kathy) Marie Parachini Welsh of Coffeyville, KS formerly of Norfolk, NE, is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, having left this earth peacefully with her children by her side on November 9, 2022, at the age of 84.

A celebration of life service will be held on December 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Norfolk, NE.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KPNO Radio Station, First Christian Church in Norfolk, or a local charity of your choice.

She was born to Theodore Steven Parachini and Nora Marie (Larsen) Parachini on October 8, 1938, in Omaha, NE. She was the second oldest of five. Some of her fondest childhood memories were of being in Valley, Nebraska, at her family’s cabin My Gals Ranch. She attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Omaha, graduating in 1956. Traveling to and from college by train, she pursued her love of nursing at Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 1960.

Kathy worked as an RN at Children’s Hospital in Omaha before becoming a homemaker.  She dedicated her life to raising her 10 children and keeping the home. She renewed her nursing license after raising her family and returned to the nursing field for several years.

She is survived by her 10 children, Mike (Kay Fischer), Julie (Greg) Traxson, Rosanne Welsh Weldon, Stephanie (Stacey) Amm, Dylan (Sara Vezain), Deborah (Sterling) Ritz, Brian (Gina Splattstoesser), Sarah (Justin) Blackburn, Aaron (Ann Findley), Serena (Josh) Siebrandt; 29 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and her sisters Fran Behrendt and Carol Bosanek.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Theodore (Tappy) Parachini, sister Sylvia (Bunny) Watson, and infant daughter Michaela.

Chavoris Dupree Neal, age 49, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. 

Chavoris was born on March 30, 1973, in Wichita, Kansas to Van Ware and Lawanda Penn.  He attended school in Lenapah, Oklahoma and Coffeyville where he graduated from Field Kindley High School.  He enjoyed basketball and loved spending time surrounded by his family and grandchildren. 

Chavoris is survived by his children, Demarco Shoat of Parsons, Kansas, Christa Shoat of Pittsburg, Kansas and Lexi King of Joplin, Missouri, Avien Shields of Carthage, Missouri; his stepfather, Harry Neal, Sr. of Coffeyville; grandchildren, Darius, Darkis and Kalia Neal, with two more grandchildren “on the way”, brothers, Maurice Neal, James Neal and Harry Neal Jr., sisters, Natasha Davis and England Neal.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Van Ware and Lawanda (Penn) Neal, and by a sister, Jeretta Penn Strickland. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, 2010 West 5^th St., Coffeyville, Kansas, with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating.  David W. Roscoe Gordon Burrows I arrived on December 31, 1936, in his family home in Coffeyville, Kansas as the son of Robert and Helen Burrows.  Roscoe was preceded in death by an infant brother and was raised as the only living child. Gordon was reunited with his beloved wife Calvin Ann, his daughter Nancy Ann and his parents on Veterans Day of November 11, 2022. Even though Gordon was not a veteran of war he was by definition a veteran of life and love, “a person who has had long experience.” His life experience and wisdom will forever be a treasure that is passed along by his children and grandchildren.

Roscoe was known to friends as Gordon, to family as Pops. Gordon had an abounding love of family. This love overflowed much bigger than his own wife and children and became inclusive to many of his children’s friends, who also lovingly called him “Pops”. Gordon was not only big is stature as a man that stood 6’ 2” but also big in life, sacrifice and love.

Gordon married Patricia Porter in 1955 and became the father of three children Roscoe Gordon Burrows II, Alan Lee Burrows and Darla Dawn (Burrows) Long. Gordon was later remarried to Calvin Ann Linton in 1966.  Ann was the mother of Janet Sue (Linton) Mayes and Nancy Ann (Linton) McIntire.  Gordon and Ann felt that putting their family together was greater than getting married and made the decision to adopt each other’s children and soon had their own Brady Bunch.

Gordon prided himself in being a good provider and example to his five children.  Gordon learned the value of hard work and finances at an early age from his parents who lived through the great depression.  At a young age Gordon had his own delivery business, worked at Sherwin Williams, and later sealed it up with and amazing and successful career in insurance and finance which eventually led him to move his family to Texas.  It was his devotion to family that led him back to Kansas when his father became ill.

Gordon always had a love for adventure and music but his devotion to family trumped all.  He was a man of great sacrifice for those that were privileged enough to be a part of his world. As a young man he sold his Harley Davidson motorcycle to buy his father a Crosley station wagon.  His love for music turned into a band called Rhythm Aces in which he played saxophone, clarinet and was a lead singer but when the road called for him to travel with the band, he chose family over fame. He shared his love for music and dance often playing Yakety Sax and dancing in the living room to the entertainment of his children. He would sing songs on those long road trips between Texas and Kansas many that are still sung today.

His greatness was in teaching his children and grandchildren the value of a handshake and that a man’s word was his honor, that things don’t come free in life but sometimes payment meant just showing up, He solved some of life’s biggest lessons from a porch swing, encouraged his children and grandchildren to understand the importance of grabbing life while you have the time. He was a force bigger than life itself, he not only taught big lessons, but he loved Big.

Gordon was a humble and wise man that gave more than he expected, made his family his priority, was always willing to make a sacrifice for those that needed. Gordon left some pretty big shoes to fill and the sense of loss is great. He will be greatly missed by his family, extended family, and friends.

Gordon is survived by, he and Ann’s Brady Bunch family that grew and grew, starting with his son, Roscoe Gordon Burrows II (wife Deanna) 3 grandchildren Tracy Burrows, Callie Burrows, Taylor Burrows and one great grandchild; son, Alan Lee Burrows (wife Nancy) 3 grandchildren, Katie Erikson (husband Davin), Jenny Burrows, Robert Burrows(wife Carolyn) and 8 great grandchildren; daughter Darla Dawn Long (husband Goose) grandchildren, Jessi Long, Amber Wade (Husband Zack) and 5 great grandchildren; Daughter Janet Sue Mayes (husband Windall) grandchildren, Christy Kelley Mayes (preceded in death), Lucas Moody (wife Amy), Tyler Moody (wife Catherine), Logan Moody , Bryan Mayes wife Sarah), Kelsey Ratzlaff (husband Beau), Sammi Meadows and 13 great grandchildren; daughter Nancy Ann McIntire (preceded in death) grandchildren Tessa Brooks, Alesha Green, Levi McIntire, Cruz McIntire, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 10am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. John “Mike” Michael Weeks, age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Medicalodge in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Mike was born on July 17, 1950, in Dadeville, Missouri to Rollo and June (Stewart) Weeks. In the early 1950’s the family moved to Coffeyville where he grew up attending local schools, graduating from Field Kindley High School.  He went on to further his education completing numerous college courses in Wichita.

As a young man, Mike worked in hotel management for Holiday Inn Hotels and traveled around to various locations.  This brought him back to Wichita, Kansas where he met Ann K. Hibarger, who also worked for Holiday Inn Hotels and the two fell in love.  The couple were united in marriage on August 27, 1976, in Independence, Kansas and made their home in Coffeyville.

Mike was employed with the City of Coffeyville for more than twenty-five years, starting in the Traffic Control and Water departments, spending most of his career in the Public Works Department until his retirement in 1997.  Mike was a fun guy to be around and loved life.  He enjoyed spending time with his many friends at his cabin at Spring Lake where they would tell stories, reminisce and even solve many local, national and world problems.  Mike was an avid outdoorsman taking annual pheasant hunting trips, as well as enjoying fishing when possible. Mike was also a passionate sports fan. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, the Kansas City Chiefs football and KU basketball.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his many lifelong best friends, numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Rollo and June Weeks; loving wife, Ann Weeks in 2013, sister, Carol (Quincy) Hicks, and brother, Robert Weeks.

Following Mike’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.  Private Inurnment will follow.

Mrs. Betty Maxine Smith age 94 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 4, 2022, at her daughters home where she had resided for several years because of failing health.

Betty was born on February 4, 1928 to John William and Nellie Stacey (Manning) Swalley in Delaware, Oklahoma.  After graduating from high school she married Glenn Smith, of that union five daughters were born, Glenda, Sherry, Linda, Stacey and Vicki.

Betty had several places of employment over the years but being a wife and mother were most important to her.  Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, search a word, garage selling and recording her favorite movies to watch again and again. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn and two daughters, Glenda J. Lewis and Sherry R. Seaton; one grandson Adame E. Laney; four brothers Bert C. Swalley, Mavin L. Swalley, J.D. Swalley and Harold N. Swalley.

Surivors include three daughters, Linda D. Ross, Coffeyville, Kansas, Stacey L. Maris, Belleville, Kansas and Vicki L. Vail and husband Clyde N. Vail, Coffeyville, Kansas; one sister Lela M. Ward, Baltimore, Maryland; seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Orlin Everitt Maritt, a proud veteran of the Army-Air Force passed away Saturday November 5th, 2022 at the age of 97 surrounded by his family.

The son of James Z. Sr. and Opal (Pool) Maritt, Orlin grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born June 28th, 1925 at his parents’ home in Coffeyville and attended Coffeyville Schools

At the age of 18, Orlin enlisted in the Army-Air Force during World War II. Before he went overseas, he married Pauline Griswold.

He valued this service highly and attained the rank of SGT. As part of this service, he was part of the European theater of operations from 1943 – 1946. He was part of the 94th Bomb Group, 8th Army Air Force. As part of the European Theater, he completed nine missions as a member of a B-17 crew over European Territory. He received 3 medals:  Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal, and Air Medal

After returning from the service, he and Pauline made their home in the Coffeyville area eventually moving to rural Wann, Oklahoma.   Orlin was a farmer. He and Pauline would go their separate ways but remained friends until her death in 2012.  Orlin would later meet and marry Virginia Shere but they would go their separate ways as well.  He would meet the love of his life Hazel Smithson and they were married until her death in 2015.

Orlin is survived by two daughters, Catherine Sue Vail and Husband Raymond of rural Wann, Oklahoma.  Colleen Palmer and Husband Gerry of Luton, London England; 

One Brother: Dean Maritt and Wife Pat of Coffeyville, Kansas; One Sister: Freda Hulet of Edna, Kansas.  Two In-Laws: Karan Maritt of Coffeyville and Virginia Maritt of Coffeyville. 

Three Grandsons: Raymond Lee Vail, Jr. & Wife Charity of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  Jonathan Vail & Wife Motoka of Germany; Kevan Palmer and Wife Zoe of London, England.  One Granddaughter: Michelle Gander of London, England. 

Five Great Granddaughters: Christina Munguía of Longmont Colorado; Kayano Vail of Pittsburg, Kansas;  Marissa Vail of Pittsburg, Kansas;  Elaine Harkey of Oklahoma City; Rebecca Gander of Luton, England.  Two Great Grandsons: Sawaki Vail of Longmont Colorado;  Matthew Gander of Gloucestershire, England and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Orlin is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dan, Robert, and James Jr., and one sister Helen.

He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Coffeyville.  His loved ones will remember him as a bit of a jokester.  He would make everyone laugh in the room.  He even did so in his last days.  By making his daughters and grandchildren laugh like crazy. He was a man of God. He did his best to teach those principles down to his children and grandchildren.

A service honoring the life of Orlin Everitt Maritt will be held Thursday November 10th at 2pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1001 West 8th St. Coffeyville, Kansas with Pam Peck officiating.  The family will receive friends at a visitation Wednesday November 9, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm at David W. Eulalia Frances Gowen (“Frances”) went to be with Jesus on November 4, 2022. Frances was born August 5, 1924, to Joseph and Macy West of Strang, Oklahoma in what was then known as Cherokee Nation Indian Territory. Frances attended Strang School and graduated high school in 1943. She then attended Northeastern Teacher’s College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she received her teaching certificate. Frances taught at Bellvue School in Nowata County. It was there that she met her future husband, Carl Joseph Gowen, at a pie supper.

Carl and Frances were married February 1, 1947 and were married for 56 years until Carl’s passing in 2003. Carl and Frances lived on a farm in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma for over 50 years. While on the farm, they raised cattle, pigs, chickens, grain, and hay. Two children were born from this marriage – Dewayne Gowen and Elaine Gowen Stevens.

Frances was a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She was a matriarch in every sense of the word, head-strong and intrepid in her role as a wife, mother, and later grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared deeply about her family and loved when they would visit her at the farm. After each visit, she and Carl would stand outside together, waving as their family packed up in the car and watching until the car was out of sight.

Her cooking was legendary, as evidenced by her family’s repeated attempts to match her famous potato salad recipe. Ever stoic in nature, her family always knew their potato salad attempts didn’t hit the mark by the small, amused smile on Frances’s face after a taste.

Frances is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Mary Gowen of Augusta, Kansas, and her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Larry Stevens of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Dana Henry and husband, Shane, of Norman, Oklahoma; Tia Ann Wilson and husband, Dan, of Wichita, Kansas; Amy Graves and husband, Luther, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Emily Eleftherakis and husband, Roger, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Michael Stevens and wife, Erica, of Dallas, Texas. One of Frances’s great joys was watching her grandchildren have children of their own. She is survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Christian, Bailey, Kollins, Madelyn, Kelby, Kayden, Ellis, and Theodore.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Macy West, both of whom were Cherokee Indians by blood; her brother, Quintin P. West; and her husband, Carl J. Gowen; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405, Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas, with Pastor Jason Petermann officiating. A viewing will be open to any friends of the family that wish to pay their respects beginning at 2 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Mariann (Stumbaugh) Templeton, a longtime resident of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away at the age of 88 at the Advena Living of Cherryvale, Kansas where she has resided for the last year.

Mariann was born to Roy C and Mary E (Brown) Stumbaugh on December 30, 1933. She attended school in Coffeyville where she was always active in school functions. She received her diploma from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1951, and her associates degree from Coffeyville Community College. She met the love of her life James Templeton at a Sea scout dance in high school. After graduating from college, she and Jim married at her parents' home on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1953. The couple made their home in Coffeyville. Mariann continued her education attending a Pittsburg State extension program where she received her diploma in 1955. 

Mariann's first teaching job was at Blackford Country School just south of Veleda, Kansas in Labette County. After having their first child "Jamie" Mariann chose to remain at home where she enjoyed being a homemaker. She and Jim had two more children, David, and Mary. Mariann loved being a mother to her children and loved them dearly. She was active in her children's lives as a Cub Scout leader for her two boys and Brownie and Girl Scout leader for her daughter.

When Jamie was young, she began substitute teaching and later worked at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center while Jamie attended K-State. Mariann also managed the office for her husband's woodworking business, Templeton Woodworks. In 2007 a devasting flood destroyed their business but not their love for each other. Jim and Mariann shared 62 years of marriage together at the time of Jim's passing on December 16, 2015.

Mariann lived at Asbury Village from October 2015 through November last year. She loved bingo and playing the piano. She also enjoyed reading a good book and drinking Dr. Pepper.

Mariann was such a joyful, happy person. She always had a smile on her face and always chose to find the best in every situation. She was a longtime member of Coffeyville Bible Church where she shared her love of playing the piano. Mariann loved attending church, reading her Bible, cooking, and caring for others. Her greatest loves in life were God, her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. The natural progression of life made many challenges for Mariann, but she never complained and was always grateful.

Mariann's legacy will live on through her children James "Jamie" R Templeton Jr. and his wife Debbie, David Templeton and his wife Angela Jo, Mary, and her husband Randy Hyatt; she is also survived by her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Passmore.

Memorial services celebrating Mariann’s life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 1pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337. Norma Ilene Derringer of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center at the age of 94.

Norma was born to Clarence and Goldie (Earley) Hickcox on March 21, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska.  Norma married Carl Derringer on April 17, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas.  Carl preceded her in death on July 9, 1982. She worked for Haliburton, Rock-a-Chair, Bailey's Restaurant and after 17 years of service she retired from Windsor Place.

Norma also attended Central Baptist Church until her health began to fail, she was a member of the VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20.

She is survived by her children, Carla Fisher, of Coffeyville, Craig (Darlene) Derringer of Clovis, California, Loretta Romines of Coffeyville, grandchildren, Melissa Carrell, Annie Kampa, Shelly Holzwart, Becky Altis, and Megan Pierce, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren and and half-sister Mary Ziel.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Cook, half-brother Fred Hickcox, and great-granddaugther Kali.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337.  Pastor Charles Pitts of Central Baptist Church will be officiating.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Carl in Fairview Cemetery following the service. Buford Marvin Long, 95, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He was born on December 9, 1926, in Coffeyville to Buford E. “Shorty” and Dora Irene (Mitchell) Long. Marvin grew up and attended rural schools in Labette County, Kansas and Nowata County, Oklahoma and graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.

Marvin was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Coffeyville where he worked as an Industrial Electrician at Moon-Hill Electric.

On June 21, 1947, he married Rosemary Bowman at Wichita, Kansas. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their four children. Marvin continued working and later owning Moon-Hill Electric. He retired after 62 years of service. Rosemary preceded him in death in 2018.

He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville serving as Deacon and numerous other positions over the years.  Marvin’s family was his life, he loved going to his kids and grandkids sporting events, for many years he and his sons attended the Big 12 Basketball Tournament. Marvin and Rosemary were at many Golden Tornado and Red Raven Football and Basketball games. He enjoyed fishing and rodeo’s and especially enjoyed watching his grandson Jake Long.

Survivors include his children, Terry Long and wife, Kathy of Coffeyville, Goose Long and wife, Darla of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Crickett Long and wife, Lynette of Delaware, Oklahoma, and Pam White of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; one brother, Jimmy Dean Long and wife, Pauline of Grandview, Missouri; grandchildren, Carrie Long, Kerrie (Andrew) Dodd, Eric Fritz, Jessi Long, Amber (Zack) Wade, Zack Long, Jake (Tasha) Long, Jerome (Areli) Longacre, Lacy (Aaron) Gittinger, Lisa White, Brandie White, and Becki White; great-grandchildren, Taylor (Chris) Rivera, A.J. Dodd, Kylee Fritz, Keira Fritz, Aliyah Fritz, Lilee Wade, Luke Wade, Lauren Wade, Anna Cantrell, Wyatt Cantrell, Haven Long, Haizlee Long, Brennan Longacre, Ava Longacre, Ivy Gittinger, Betsy Gittinger, Bradley White, Emmalee White, Brody Woody, Gavin Woody, and Kord Woody; and great-great-grandchildren, Meelah Robbins, and Charli Rose Rivera.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; son-in-law, David White; two grandsons, Ernie Fritz, and Michael White; two brothers, Billy Wayne Long, and Bob Long; and one sister, Shirley McKinzie.

A Memorial Service celebrating Marvin’s life will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Dick Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville.

Raymond A. Selcho, 85 of Hudson, Wisconsin and former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, in Hudson.

He was born on April 7, 1937, in Ritzville, Washington to the late John and Esther (Lloyd) Selcho. Ray grew up and attended school in Ritzville.

Ray married the love of his life, Carolyn Thompson, on March 14, 1964. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville, where they raised their four daughters. Ray owned and operated Selcho Lock and Key in Coffeyville for 47 years, retiring in 2017. Following his wife's death in 2018, he moved to Hudson, Wisconsin to live with his daughter's family.

Ray was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville and was active in the community.  He and his family could often be found either at church or the roller skating rink.  He loved to read, drink Pepsi-Cola and spend time with family and friends.  He enjoyed watching his family race cars on the dirt track at Caney Valley Speedway.  After moving to Wisconsin, he still kept up with Grace Fellowship's online church services. 

He is survived by his four daughters, Terry (Gary) Langworthy of Coffeyville; Sherry Songer of South Coffeyville, OK; Kristi (Mike) Gilmore of Reston, VA; and Jonay (Mark) Meyer of Hudson, WI; five grandchildren, Gary (Jaime) Langworthy, Crystal (Chris) Vannoster, Cameron (Amber) Songer, Daniel (Haunna) Songer and Hunter Meyer as well as several great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sweet sister, Sharon Moore of Lyman, SC.  He was predeceased by his loving sisters, Joan Hauge, Bernice Basso, Verna Mae Taylor, Linda Kellogg and Charlene Dillon. 

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 4th at Grace Fellowship Church, 2455 Woodland Ave. in Coffeyville with Pastor Doug Mund officiating.  The service will be live streamed at www.gracefellow.net or Grace Fellowship's Facebook page.  Ray will be laid to rest by his beloved wife in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
