Brian Lee DePriest,

Brian Lee DePriest, 60, of Caney, Kansas passed away on September 5, 2023 to go to his forever home in Heaven.  He was born in Independence, Kansas to Marilyn and Charles DePriest.  He was raised in Caney, Kansas, graduating from Caney Valley High School in 1980. 

 

After high school, he became Assistant Manager at Town and Country Grocery.  He then went into Ford Dealerships selling auto parts for several years.  From there he was self-employed as an artisan for several years before working for Auto Zone ultimately as their commercial sales manager. 

 

Brian was a private person and had tremendous love for the outdoors, fishing, and biking.  He was happiest when with his family or on his motorcycle.  He was a member of Tyro Christian Church and was strong in his faith throughout his life. 

Brian married Cindy Vandeventer in 1980.  In 1982, one daughter, Jennifer Lynn DePriest joined this union. 

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Charles Oscar DePriest, brother Wayne DePriest, sister Doris Ann DePriest Johnston, and grandson Aiden Wayne Hunsucker. 

 

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Lynn DePriest, grandson Brandon James Hunsucker Jr., his mother Marilyn Ann DePriest, and nephew Ethan Alexander Johnston. 

 

Following Brian’s wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

 

Graveside Memorial Services will take place at the Havana Cemetery in Havana, Kansas on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
