Statewide Tornado Drill Today

Sirens will sound across Kansas for the statewide tornado drill today.

Coffeyville sirens will sound in conjunction with the drill at 11 a.m. this morning. The test will also be broadcast over NOAA weather radio. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the drill by seeking shelter or at least discussing where you would go in the event of a tornado. As Severe Weather Preparedness Week continues, today highlights tornado safety. According to the Wichita office of the National Weather Service, Kansas averages 95 tornadoes per year. If you do not have a safe place to go in your home, a list of public shelters in Montgomery County is available here.
