Election day is just two weeks away and one of the races generating local interest is that of the Kansas Second Congressional District.

Democratic challenger Patrick Schmidt will face incumbent Republican Jake LaTurner on November 8^th.  Schmidt was a recent guest on KGGF and says he was inspired to run for office after seeing international threats facing the U.S. during his time as an officer in the Navy.

Schmidt also says the events on January 6^th influenced his decision to run and has been an open critic of LaTurner's actions on that day.
