David Charles Cain

David Charles Cain, 51, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at his skilled nursing clinic in Overland Park, Kansas.

David was born on April 13, 1975, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Robert and Brenda Cain. He spent most of his life in Coffeyville and went to high school at Field Kindley where he played football. David was a loving person who had a heart of gold. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks basketball, going to the ocean, hanging out at the lake house and fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed tailgating at the Chiefs games.

David was quadriplegic for the past 33 years but still loved life every day. He was very inspiring and lived a happy life every day and enjoyed being around family and friends. He accepted his condition and kept a positive outlook on life for all those 33 years. He loved hanging out on the beach in Florida while working on his tan, eating seafood and watching people fish.

David leaves behind his mom, Brenda Cain; brother, Brad Cain; niece, Lexi Cain; daughter Breanna Garrett and has two grandchildren along with many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cain.

No services will be held for David as his wish was to be cremated. He wanted his family and friends to celebrate the time he had and not be sorrowful that he is gone as he always wanted people to be happy.

David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of arrangements. To leave a condolence, a special memory or photographs for the family online, visit David’s memorial page at www.dwbfh.com
