Nancy Joan Bromley

 

Nancy Joan Bromley, 92, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Medicalodges on Midland in Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

Nancy was born on June 17, 1934, to James and Gladys (Wolverton) Holt in Coffeyville, Kansas. Growing up with her siblings in Coffeyville, she completed her schooling there, graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School. She furthered her education at CCJC, earning an Associate's degree.

 

Joanne was a lifelong member of Coffeyville First Assembly of God, attending since infancy and remaining an active participant until her passing.

 

In 1955, she married C. L. McRay, and together they had three daughters: Elizabeth, Nancy, and Mary. The couple owned and operated Sunflower Cleaners, a true family business. After their divorce, Joanne began a career as a customer service representative with the City of Coffeyville, where she worked until retirement.

 

On September 23, 1977, she remarried Sherman “Bill” Bromley in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2016.

 

Joanne was deeply committed to her church and community, volunteering with Harry Hynes Hospice, Meals on Wheels, and the Salvation Army Coffeyville Service Volunteers. She attended daily exercise classes at the senior center, where she forged a close friendship with Rita Wilson.

 

Dedicated to her family, Joanne was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her independence was a source of pride, choosing to remain in her beloved Coffeyville.

She is survived by her daughters: Liz Smith and her husband Joshua Kim; Nancy McRay; and Mary and her husband Allen Vaughn. Her step granddaughter Jessica Smith; grandchildren include Brandon Vaughn and his wife Melanie, Andrew Vaughn and his wife Mulika, Marysa Vaughn and her husband Justin Stone, Anna Vaughn, and Caleb Vaughn. She also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Grayson Vaughn.

 

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, grandson Logan Smith, and her siblings: Jack Holt, Gladys Holt, James Holt, Jesse Townsend, Anna Mae Davenport, Frances Evans, and Nona Swan.

 

Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 2 to 4pm the family will receive friends at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave. in Coffeyville. On Monday August 24, 2026, at 10 am A Celebration of Joanne's life will be held at her home church Coffeyville First Assembly of God located at 1504 W 8th St. in Coffeyville with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. A private family burial will follow the service where Joanne will be laid to rest in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
