Martha E. Oneslager

 

Martha E. Oneslager, age 90 of Coffeyville Kansas passed away surrounded by family at her side on Friday March 27, 2026, at CRMC.

 

Martha was born on September 21, 1935, to Harl & Mable Bendure and was one of four girls. She grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1953. She went on to pursue her education and graduated from CCJC and from there to Pittsburg State University where she received her master’s degree in teaching. She taught at Whittier and McKinley for the USD 445 district until she retired in 2000.

 

She married Rees Burnett in June 1955 and had two sons, Mark and Greg, but due to an illness he passed away in May 1962. September 1963, she married Lloyd "Bud" Ford and had a son, Doug. After they departed ways and several years later married Don Oneslager in March 1987 and stayed united until his passing.

 

Martha was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed knitting, playing bridge and a big sport fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and OKC Thunder. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

 

She is survived by sons: Mark Burnett, Greg (Audrey) Burnett. Grandchildren: Megan (Jason) Crawford, Whitney (Aaron) Lyle, Kelsey (Devin) Douglas and Brittany Ford. 12 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.

 

She is proceeded in death by: her parents Harl & Mable, husband Don Oneslager, 3 sisters Naomi, Marie, Doris, son Doug Ford, granddaughter Haley Ford and great granddaughter Clara Jo Ford.

 

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 2 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville. Martha will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery next to her late husband Don and son Doug following the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 31 also at the same location from 5-7pm.  The family request memorial memory to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
