Cecilia “Cis” Lorain Rosenthal, age 67, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Cecilia was born on June 10, 1958, in Tampa, Florida. She was raised by her parents Richard and Ruby (Deatherage) Laws. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where she attended local schools. On June 14, 1974, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Rosenthal in St. Louis. The couple lived in a few different states throughout the years, moving to Coffeyville in 1991, where they have remained ever since. Jim preceded her in death on December 5, 2022.
Cecilia was a homemaker taking care of her kids and the home. She was a bus driver for a few years, then she found her calling as a nurse. She worked at local nursing homes, caring for the elderly residents with compassion and care.
Cecilia's hobbies included shopping, reading, fishing with Jim, sitting outside enjoying the fresh air and most of all she loved her family, she loved to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, James J. Rosenthal and wife, Jennifer of Henderson, Texas, Cory Rosenthal of Derby, Kansas, Kati Hayward and husband, Shundale of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Seandale Hayward, Ravyn Hayward, Maddy Rosenthal, Danger Rosenthal, Kristin Rosenthal; great-grandchildren, Legend Kai, Taylin Lillie-Ann, Fate Greyce, Fierce Love; brother, Keith Hawks of Tennessee; nieces, Bonita Humphrey and Angela Wickes and husband, James; nephew, Dan Deatherage; along with numerous extended family members and friends. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ruby Laws; her loving husband, James “Jim” Rosenthal; daughter, Kristen Michelle Rosenthal and brother, Robert Deatherage.
Following Cecilia’s wishes, a private family burial will take place at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jim.
Family and friends can sign the register book at David W. Barnes Funeral Home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
