Forrest William "Bill" Seger

 

Forrest William "Bill" Seger, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St, Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age 86, surrounded by his family.  

 

Bill was born on June 24, 1939, in Welch, Oklahoma to Albert and Gladys (Martin) Seger.  He attended school locally, graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1958.  

 

On May 8, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia "Pat" Denney in Coffeyville where they made their home.  Together they raised three daughters, Elaine, Cheryl, Pam and nephew, Rich. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary the week before Pat passed away, preceding him in death on May 11, 2025.  

 

Bill worked as a precision machinist and shop supervisor for Magic Circle in Coffeyville his whole career.  He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.  

 

Their love of travel took them on countless adventures in Branson, camping in the mountains of Colorado, to the magical world of Walt Disney and even an Alaskan Cruise.  His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, reading, and going to auctions. In recent years he has enjoyed attending Dearing Christian Church.  

 

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Elaine Riley and husband, Leon, Cheryl Rutten, Pam Armstrong and husband, Howard all of Coffeyville, Kansas; nephew, Rich Davidson and wife, Dawn of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Eric (April) Riley and their children, Reegan and Abigail, Alysia (Matt) Walthall and their children, Katlyn and Rebecca, Brad (Jennifer) Armstrong and their children, Alex and Chris, Sarah (Duane “DJ”) Manley, Michelle Armstrong, Krystal Davidson and daughter, Makenzy, Matthew Armstrong, Adrianne Davidson; brothers, Richard (Joyce) Seger, David (Shawn) Seger; sister, Linda (Jim) Bungart along with numerous extended family members and friends.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gladys Seger; wife, Pat Seger; son-in-law, James “Jim” Rutten; great granddaughter, Ellianna Armstrong; brother, Robert "Bob" Seger; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Seger and Elizabeth "Betty" Seger.  

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Dearing Christian Church in Dearing, Kansas.  Pastor Jamie Regis will officiate.  Burial will follow at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett, Kansas.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Dearing Christian Church or to Children’s Mercy Kansas City; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
