Earl Leon Haynes

Earl Leon Haynes, age 74, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his home.

Earl was born on August 14, 1951, in Oswego, Kansas to Lewis and Joanna (Kirk) Haynes.  He grew up in Cherokee, Kansas where he attended local schools.  He earned his CDL License and spent much of his working life as a long-haul truck driver.  More recently he worked for Southern Industries in South Coffeyville as a crane operator and M&M Hauling for Mark Nolte.

Earl was a jack-of-all trade.  He loved being outdoors and was always tinkering with things.  Anytime someone was in need, Earl didn’t hesitate to be there for others.  He would run the grandkids around or babysat the great grandsons anytime he was needed.  His family will always remember him as the toughest and sweetest man they’ll ever know.

He enjoyed playing horseshoes, shooting pool, playing guitar, building and racing cars.  He liked to cook, especially breakfast and smoothies.  Earl enjoyed attending all the grandkids’ activities and being there to support them however he could.  He loved his grand-pups, Zeke, Ellie and Squirt.  He was a member of the Sons of the Legion and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving companion, Gretchen Rutherford; children, Michelle (Bruce) Robinson of Wichita, Kansas, Ray (Ashley) Rutherford, Renee (John Keylon) Rutherford, Rachelle McCullough all of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Lindy Newberry (Heath Bresee), Jesse Newberry (Lacey Gentry), Lily, Maya, Natalie and Katherine Rutherford, RaeAnna Rutherford-Madl (Scott Neyland), Kelsey and Chloe Keylon, Tamera McCullough (Jacobi Sharpe), Michael McCullough II, and Tiana McCullough; great grandchildren, Nova, Royce, Wraith and Valkyrie Bresee, Avelynn and Zelda Newberry, Braxton and Beckett Neyland, Jariah Sharpe, Ja’Mari Cartwright and one on the way; sisters, Sharon Lamb, Donna Smalley, Sandy Haynes along with numerous extended family and many friends.  Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Joanna Haynes; siblings, Brenda Sears, Terry Haynes and baby sister, Rosetta Haynes.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville.  Pastor Mike Elrod will officiate.  Burial will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas.
