Kay Greenfield

Kay Greenfield, age 77, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

 

Kay was born on July 13, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Charles and Maurine (Riley) Linnet.  She grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where she attended local schools and graduated from Sapulpa High School.  Kay furthered her education to become an educator, earning her master’s degree from Northeastern State University. 

 

On August 1, 1970, she was united in marriage to Eddie Greenfield in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.  The couple made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma where they raised their daughters, Cheryl and Barbara.  Eddie preceded her in death on April 10, 2014. 

 

Kay had a long and successful career in education and left an imprint on so many children.  While in Sapulpa she did her student teaching.  When they moved to South Coffeyville she taught at Garfield Elementary School, Holy Name Catholic School and South Coffeyville School where she taught Kindergarten and was a reading specialist. 

 

Kay and Eddie were pastors of Abundant Life Temple from 1983-2018, she then became a member of the Convergence Church in Coffeyville.  She was a member of the Chi Alpha singing group while she was in college, the retired teacher’s group, she enjoyed reading, crafting and sewing.  Most of all Kay loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. 

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Foster, Barbara (Josh) Barriger; grandchildren, Colton Foster, Cami Foster, Charlee Barriger and Jackson Barriger; siblings, David (Carol) Linnet, James D. Linnet; sister-in-law, Cathy Linnet; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. 

 

Following Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.  The register book will be available to sign at the funeral home on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 9am until 5pm. 

 

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Convergence Church, 906 S. Elm in Coffeyville.  Pastor Shannon Dozier will officiate. 

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Feed A Child, P.O. Box 1183, Jenks, OK 74037; these may also be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
