Dixie Lou Erne

In the early morning of January 18, 2025, the world lost a truly beautiful soul, Dixie Lou Erne. Born on April 23, 1934, Dixie lived a life filled with warmth and love, and her gentle spirit touched everyone she met. A long time member of Dearing Christian Church, she was a woman of strong faith, and this faith was clearly reflected in her everyday actions. Dixie retired from a fulfilling career at Western Publishing in Coffeyville, Kansas.  She had a love for nature and found joy in the simple wonders of life, often watching the deer and birds from her backdoor window in the quiet of the country.

Dixie's family was her world, and she spent countless hours attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's' activities. Later in life she enjoyed rides on the side-by-side with her son Randy checking cows.  Breakfast with her daughter Kim and son-in-law Rick and lunch trips to town with her caregiver who turned friend, Ginger.

Dixie's legacy of love and kindness is carried on by her surviving family members:  Son Randy Erne, Daughter Kim Lee (Rick), Sister Dorothy Armstrong, Grandchildren Travis Lee (Erin), Rickenia Botts (Darrin), Ashley Pippin (Levi), Great-Grandchildren Dezi Lee, Lauren Lee, Bryor Botts, Baylor Botts, Chandler Pippin and Kinslee Pippin.

Dixie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Erne whose memory she held dear throughout her life.  She also mourned the passing of her parents Lee Henry Bryant and Maudie Victoria Medlin as well as her brother Billy Dean Bryant and sister Virginia Mae Bryant.

Dixie's light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her, and her spirit will live on in the stories and memories made.

Friends may sign the register book at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  A private family burial will take place at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.
