Shirley Ann Schafer, age 87 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away at home on December 18, 2024 with family gathered around her.
She was born on September 23, 1937, in Claremore, Oklahoma. Shirley grew up attending school and graduating from Delaware High School.
In 1956 she married Harold Schafer and raised three children, Stephen, Robert and Ginger. They celebrated 68 years of marriage on November 17, 2024.
Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Shirley was successful professionally retiring from Xerox Corporation in 1992. During her life she also was a member of several groups. The Jaycee Wives, the Jackson County Fair Board as Secretary Treasurer, Eastern Star in Coffeyville and served as an Auxiliary at Coffeyville Regional Hospital.
Shirley is survived by her husband Harold Schafer, son Stephen Schafer, daughter Ginger Schafer and daughter in-law Robin Schafer. She was a proud grandmother to Julie Schindler, Sarah Schafer and Shannon Schafer. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren; Jude Strahm, Nora Schindler and Ava Schindler. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Lois Stephen’s and her son Robert Schafer. She held a special place in her heart for each of her family members and was overjoyed to watch her family grow and flourish.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the CRMC Auxiliary; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
