Wilbur Dale Wright, Jr., 85, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, October 19, 2024, at his home.
He was born in Coffeyville on April 16, 1939, to Wilbur Dale Wright, Sr. and Wilma (McCullough) Wright.
Wilbur lived most of his life in his beloved hometown, aside from a brief period of service in the U.S. Navy and a few years spent with his daughter at Lake Hudson in Oklahoma. He eventually returned home to Coffeyville, where he remained until his passing.
Wilbur married his love, Velma A. Voyles, on October 2, 1959, in Coffeyville and together they raised a cherished family. After more than 35 dedicated years, Wilbur retired from his job as a Shipping Clerk at Pressure Cast. An avid outdoorsman, Wilbur enjoyed a variety of hobbies including going to the casino, collecting sports cards, woodworking, crafting, camping, and fishing. He was a lover of guns and knives and could often be found watching the ducks at the lake. Wilbur was a great story tell with an infectious laugh and possessed "the gift of gab" which he passed down to many members of his family. However, it was time spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, that brought him the most joy.
Wilbur is survived by his daughters, Debra (Tommy Ehart) Ulibarri, Cheryl Christmore, Iris White, and Teresa (Tony) Brizendine, his son, Kevin (Irene) Wright, his siblings, Roger Wright, Peggy Coy, and Linda (Jerry) Loffer, fourteen grandchildren, Amber (Troy) Short, Kylee (Tim) Mutter, Danny (Jaqlyn) Ulibarri, Logan (Emily) Ulibarri, Nichole (Raul ) Christmore, Paul Christmore, Levi Means, Caitlin Christmore, Ashley Wright, Kevin (Kaitlin) Wright, Jr., Kelby (Dani) Wright, Wesley White, Jason (Kari) White, and Peyton Brizendine, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Wright, his parents, Wilbur Sr. and Wilma Wright, his brother Larry Wright, his sister Glenda Wright, his son-in-law, Danny White, and his grandson, Dayton Christmore.
