Phil Foster

Phil Foster, 87, of Coffeyville passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

 

He was born on June 24, 1937, in Isabella, Oklahoma, to Thomas W. and Anna (Price) Foster. Phil grew up and attended school in the Isabella area.

 

On January 1, 1962, he married Marilyn Sue Bowman in Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville until moving to their farm east of Coffeyville. Phil lived a life that was rich in love, laughter, and hard work. He was a devoted family man, a dependable friend, and a respected member of his community. His wife preceded him in death on March 5, 2018.

 

Phil was a man of many talents and passions. He spent his professional life as a truck driver in the transportation industry. His job took him to many places, but his heart was always at home, in the field, farming, and raising cattle. This was a hobby that Phil cherished, as he found joy and peace in the rhythm of nature and the satisfaction of hard work. Despite his busy schedule, Phil always prioritized his family, a testament to the kind and loving man he was. He was also an active member of the South Coffeyville United Methodist Church, where he found solace and strength.

 

Phil is survived by his son, Donnie (Bonnie) Foster; daughter-in-law, Pam Foster; sister, Betty Martin; grandchildren, Cortney (Joletta) Foster of Wichita, Kansas, Joshua Foster of Harrison, Arkansas, Kayce (Maggie) Foster of Peru, Nebraska; great grandchildren, Emily Foster, Nate, Christopher, Gabrial, Laz and Isabella Foster, Harleigh, Edison and Vada Foster, Kroslyn, Jaycee, Joci, and Silas.

 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Foster, his parents, Thomas and Anna Foster, and his son, Gary Foster. Phil's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to family.

 

A Memorial Service celebrating Phil's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the South Coffeyville United Methodist Church. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

The family suggests memorials to the South Coffeyville United Methodist Church; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
