Obituaries

Norma Jean Teehee,

Norma Jean Teehee, age 87, passed away peacefully at Morningstar Care Homes of Fredonia, Kansas on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

 

Norma was born on February 10, 1937, in El Dorado, Kansas to Leonard and Viola (Duke) Bell.  She grew up in Wichita where she attended local schools.  Norma furthered her education at Independence Community College.

 

Norma was united in marriage to James Irvin (Buz) Millar and of that union three children were born, the couple later divorced.  She was married to John Lee Teehee, Sr. and of that union two children were born, the couple later divorced.  Norma was united in marriage to Fred Royse, of that union a child was born, that couple later divorced.  She and John Teehee reunited and had another child together and were later divorced. 

 

Norma lived in several places during her life.  In addition to growing up in Wichita, Kansas, she lived in Fredonia, Peru, and Independence, Kansas along with living in Oregon from 1978-1979.  She was a very hard worker.  In addition to being a full-time mother, Norma also held employment with ACC, Sedan Floral, and Stoutco/Ameri-Kan in Independence, Kansas, from which she retired.

 

Norma was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, playing the piano, dancing, traveling, baking, and playing Bingo.  Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. 

 

Surviving to honor her memory are her children, James (Shari) Millar, Karen (Bryan) Oliver, John (Angela) Teehee, Ann (Joe) Valade, Renee (Pat) Castorena-Clark , Jennifer (Donnie) Collier, grandchildren, Summer, Stevee and Davin, Chelsea, Spring and Carla, Jeremy, Jessica and Sara, Denise, Suzie, Jeff, Kevin, Kim, and Jaime, Jessica, Daphanie, and Donlie, Faith, Autumn, Samuel and Daniel, 43 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, siblings, Don and Marvin Jones. 

 

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Bell and Bill and Viola (Duke) Joy, a brother, Harold D. Bell, her daughter, Cherie Lyn Barnes, and one great grandson, Dennis Lee Frazier, Jr.

 

Following Norma’s wishes there will be no public viewing and a direct burial will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Peru Cemetery.  Monnie Brewster will officiate.
