Carolyn Kay Francis, 81, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

 

She was born on February 26, 1943, at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Edward Lafayette and Frenchie Belle Hines. Carolyn grew up and attended school in Dewey, Oklahoma graduating from Dewey High School.

 

Following high school Carolyn began working at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville.  She married Albert Jack Hill and they moved to Coffeyville where Jack attended Coffeyville Community College after he graduated, they moved to Illinois where Jack attended Southern Illinois University.  The couple later returned to Coffeyville where they raised their son Lance. They later divorced.

 

She later married Kenneth Francis.  Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Kenneth preceded her in death in 2003.

 

Carolyn was a legal secretary at Becker, Hildreth, Eastman and Gossard Law Office, she later was secretary for the Coffeyville Community College Football program and her last job was secretary at Grace Fellowship.

 

She was a member of Grace Fellowship, a sports mom taking Lance to wrestling tournaments many weekends, enjoyed quilting and playing golf; during her years of golfing, she recorded three hole in ones. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

 

Survivors include her son Lance Hill; sister Judy Taylor; three grandchildren, Grant, Bailey and Shanise; and two great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Edward Hines, Jr.

 

Following Carolyn’s wishes a private family burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.

 

A visitation with the family present to greet friends will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024. From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
