Elizabeth June Slape,

Elizabeth June Slape, age 65, passed away peacefully with her family and her beloved dog, Roscoe at her side at the Neodesha Care & Rehab Center in Neodesha, Kansas.

Liz was born on February 20, 1959, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Walter W. and Mary Ellen (Baker) Cook. She shared her birthday with her brothers, Tony and Walter, who were born on the same day of different years, and it just so happened that was also her parents’ anniversary, making it an extra special day. Liz was a compassionate soul and a source of strength for all who knew her.

In 1985 she was united in marriage to Bill L. Slape. From that union two children were born, Brandon and Amber.  The couple later divorced in 1999 but remained close friends throughout their lives.

Liz was not only an individual of immense warmth and generosity but also a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and caregiver. She had a profound love for her family, which was the core of her existence. Her life was a testament to the power of love and care, for she made it her mission to help and take care of others.

Liz's loving spirit shone brilliantly in her professional life as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She spent many fulfilling years providing home healthcare and working for Medicalodge and Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas, where her generous and compassionate nature was appreciated by both her colleagues and the patients she cared for. Liz was a beacon of light in her line of work, always ready to lend a helping hand, her heart filled with a boundless love for humanity.

Liz's passion extended beyond her professional life. She had a deep love for nature, often spending her free time fishing and horse riding. She loved collecting dreamcatchers. Her joy was amplified when surrounded by family and friends during get-togethers, where her infectious laughter and stories were the highlight of the evening.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Brandon Brown of Coffeyville, Kansas, Amber Loffer of Fredonia, Kansas; grandchildren, Jaelyn Garrison, Layton Brown, Kaitlyn Loffer and Rickey Loffer; siblings, Tony Cook of Coffeyville, Kansas, Lola Fredricks of Arizona, Walter Cook of Coffeyville, Kansas and Jeanette (Jesse) Vargas of Coffeyville, former husband, Bill Slape along with many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Ellen Cook, her sister, Valerie Louise Francis and her brother, Thomas Mark Cook.

Following Liz's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the New Vision Church at 906 Elm St. in Coffeyville, Kansas under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home. Pastor Shannon Dozier will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Liz's life was a beautiful journey that touched countless hearts. Her legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. We invite you to share your cherished memories and photos of Liz on her memorial page at www.dwbfh.com
