Raymond Lee Vail, Sr.

Raymond Lee Vail, Sr., 75, of Wann, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

 

He was born on August 3, 1948, in Welch, Oklahoma, to Vernon and Lenora  (Howe) Vail. Raymond grew up in the Welch area and attended Welch schools. Raymond lived a fulfilling and humble life that touched many hearts. Known for his thoughtful and compassionate spirit, Raymond's journey in life was a testament to his dedication to his family and his work.

 

On December 21, 1973, he married Catherine S. Maritt at Valeda, Kanas. Together, they built a loving family, welcoming their sons Raymond and Jonathan. Raymond worked diligently at the Acme Foundry as a Core Maker until his retirement. His commitment to his work was only surpassed by his love for his family. A passionate outdoorsman, Raymond utilized his retirement years to fully indulge in his hobbies of hunting and fishing.

 

Survivors include his wife, Catherine of the home; two sons, Raymond Vail and wife, Charity of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jonathan Vail and wife Motoka of Frankfort, Germany; grandchildren, Christina (Daniel) Munguia of Longmont, Colorado, Kayano Vail of Pittsburg, Kansas, Marissa Vail of Joplin, Missouri, Sawaki Vail of Longmont, Colorado, and Elaine Harkey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his siblings, Leon (Sandy) Vail of Duncanville, Alabama, Glenda Sumner of Bluejacket, Oklahoma, Brenda Howard of Pryor, Oklahoma, Jack (Rita) Vail of Salina, Oklahoma, and JIm Vail of Vinita, Oklahoma.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Lenora Vail and one brother, Dan Vail.

 

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.  The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 .m. at the funeral home.

 

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church northeast of Wann, Oklahoma with Pastor Keith Springer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
