Teresa K. Douglas

Teresa K. Douglas, 61, of Coffeyville, passed away on Friday, August 11th, 2023, at her home with her family at her side.

 

She was born on December 6th, 1961, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Franklin T., Sr. and Corriene K. (Peyton) Byrd. Teresa grew up and attended school in Coffeyville and completed her education at Independence Community College. She was a lifelong resident of Coffeyville and the Wann, Oklahoma area.

 

Teresa made a significant impact on her community through her work at Medicalodge. She served as a CNA, Med-Aide, and Social Director, roles in which she showcased her talents and dedication. Her spirit will be remembered by her many colleagues, many of whom are grateful to have worked alongside such a devoted individual. Teresa  enoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and canning. She also loved arts and crafts, activities that showcased her creativity and talent. Her love for spending time with her family was unparalleled, and the memories forged during these moments will live on in their hearts.

 

Teresa is survived by her son Nathan (Amanda) Byrd, her father, Franklin T. Byrd Sr., her sisters Lori Byrd, Belinda (Ed) Rutherford, Sarah (Ric) Ammerman, her brothers Franklin  T.  (Tammy) Byrd Jr. and Andy (Brandi) Byrd, granddaughters Briella Byrd, Kamrey Olson, Mackenzie Olson, and a host of other family members including her extended hospice family who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother, Corriene Byrd Thomas, step-father Jackie Thomas, sister Wanda Holaday, and brother Elvis Byrd.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, from 12:00pm to 8:00 pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337. The family will also greet friends at 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the funeral home.

 

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18th, 2023, at 11:00am CDT at the First Baptist Church, 300 West 9th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337.

 

The family suggests memorials to Gentiva Hospice in Parsons, Kansas; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
