Donald Grant Le La Cheur

Donald Grant Le La Cheur, age 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on May 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born on November 13, 1933, in Scotts Bluff Nebraska to Elisha “Pete” and Fern (Evans) Le La Cheur. Donald grew up in the Hot Springs, South Dakota area where he attended school graduating from Hot Springs High School in 1953. In 1954 he was drafted into the United States Army stationed in Germany and Ellsworth Air Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was honorably discharged in 1957. 

 

Donald married Joan Elliott on November 10, 1953, and together they built a life centered around their love for family. He was a dedicated and thoughtful man who spent much of his life supporting his family and community. He resided in Coffeyville for 50 years after moving from northeastern Wyoming in August 1973.

 

He was a owner and operator of D & D Equipment with his sons, a John Deere Implement Dealer in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and retired in 1996 after many years of reliable service and hard work. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed mowing and working in his yard, and treasured moments spent with his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine and was known for his supportive nature and commitment to those around him.

 

Donald is survived by his wife, Joan Le La Cheur of the home, two sons, Dean Le La Cheur and wife Carla, and Jeff Le La Cheur and wife Janine all of Coffeyville, grandchildren, Aaron Le La Cheur and wife Melissa of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Erica Matthews and husband Jerry of Gilbert, Arizona, Jason Le La Cheur, of Coffeyville , Justin Le La Cheur and wife Colleen of Alpharetta, Georgia, Jared Jones and his wife Jena Beth of Tulsa Oklahoma, Tony Jones of Coffeyville , Julie Laflen  and her husband John of Pittsburg, KS and Josh Bristow of Coffeyville. Seventeen great-grandchildren, Alissa Pfister and husband Colton, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Michael Gill, Matthew Gill, Jerry Matthews, Lincoln Matthews, Phae’Lynn Matthews, Joel Le La Cheur, Briseis Le La Cheur, and William Le La Cheur, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Elisha and Fern Le La Cheur, two brothers, three sisters and great-granddaughter Aniston Le La Cheur

 

Visitation for Donald will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337. The family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

 

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 10:00 am at Grace Fellowship, 2455 Woodland Avenue, Coffeyville, Kansas, with Pastor Doug Mund and Pastor Daniel Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with Military Honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Masonic Rites will be presented by Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. and A.M.

 

Memorial to Shrines Children Hospital and can be left at David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
