Patricia Ann May

Patricia Ann May of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at St. Francis Hospital.

Patricia better known by Patty by her family and friends was born on December 30, 1964, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland, Canada to Bill and Hilda (Decker) Ivany.  Patty and her family were true Canucks' enjoying snowmobiling, ice fishing and spending time at their cabin as a family.  She and her 2 siblings, Billy and Kathy attended the local schools where she completed her education.

In Patty's early twenties while attending a local dance she met a young American man, Brian May.  He was stationed at Goose Bay Air Force Base in the 1980's.  The two instantly fell in love, dated, and were wed on September 4, 1987, after a three-month courtship.   Patty and her family were quick to introduce him to the outdoor hobbies they loved to do as a family.  Her family welcomed him into the family with open arms.  The couple had two children, Thomas Joseph and Rose Maria Katherine while remaining in Canada prior to Brian being deployed back to the states. The couples' third child, Crystal Ann was born on American soil. Patty, and their children made every move to every deployment with Brian, she served by his side as an Air Force wife.

Patty was welcomed by her in-laws when arriving in the states. Her mother-in-law was quick to introduce her daughter-in-law to one of her hobbies of attending garage sales and estate sales.  Patty quickly became a fan and never missed an opportunity to find a great bargain.  She also had an exceptionally soft spot for animals.  She insisted on taking in strays, nursing them back to health and finding them a new forever home.  Three of those strays became she and Brians forever pets.

Patty's children will always remember her as one of the most loving, sweet, kind, gentle, and generous mother they could have asked for.  She loved each of them as individuals and never chose a favorite. Though she had all the best qualities they could ask for she was also stern.  She was their mother first to teach and guide them and became their friend as they became older.   She continued with these same characteristics as a grandma, loving each of the four as individuals, never choosing a favorite; she may even have been a little more generous and a little less stern with her grandchildren though.

Patty and Brian made Coffeyville a home just a little over 2 years ago.  They chose Coffeyville because it was a midway point between grandchildren and family.

Patty is survived by her husband, Brian of the home, father Bill Ivany, her children Thomas Joseph May and wife Samantha, Rose Maria Katherine May and fiancée Ryne Jones, Crystal Ann and husband John Evans, grandchildren, Iden Evans, Amerle Evans, Treasure Joy May, and Alysia Yasmine Jones, brother Billy Ivany and Sherry Bessey, sister Kathy Ivany and partner Anick Coulombe, special aunt Bunty and Perry Mugford. She was preceded in death by her mother Hilda Ivany.

Cremation will take place and the family will hold a private memorial service.  Services have been entrusted to Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. To leave an online condolence or to share a memory visit  www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
