Marilyn Sue (Sudie) Hudson

Marilyn Sue (Sudie) Hudson, age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Ascension St John Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Marilyn was born on June 21, 1950, in Winfield, Kansas to Frank and Prebble (Bosler) Hudson.  When she was 10 years old her parents took her nieces and nephews, Layl, Doug, Charolett, Darla and Kenny Parkman to raise.  Marilyn loved and helped take care of them as if they were her brothers and sisters.  She loved them so very much.

Marilyn went to school in Sedan, Kansas where she graduated high school in 1968.  She went on to earn her Associates Degree from Coffeyville Community College and her Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Pittsburg State College.

On April 15, 1972, she married Michael Reese.  The couple later divorced in October 1977.

One of many jobs Marilyn had during her life was working at the Port Grill in Coffeyville.  The occupation she enjoyed most was her employment at Holy Name Catholic School in Coffeyville, Kansas.  She retired in 2016, after 43 years of teaching.  She taught kindergarten, first and second grade elementary students.  Marilyn didn’t have children of her own, but she loved every one of the children she taught just like they were her own.

She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church and the Holy Name Alter Society.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1022 Auxiliary during which she served as a former secretary and past president, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a life time member of the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.  Marilyn always thought of others before herself.

Marilyn is preceded by her parents, two half-brothers, Wallace Leverne Hudson and Frank Darwin and one sister, Glenda May Parkson.

Marilyn is survived by her nieces and nephews, Layl Parkman, Doug Parkman, Charolett (Tracy) Replogle, Darla (Ray) William, Kenny (Angie) Parkman, Cathy (Rob) Miller, Ammie (Jody) Kinsey, Brent (Chrystie) Parkman, along with numerous other extended relatives and close friends.
