Cherie Lyn Teehee-Barnes

Cherie Lyn Teehee-Barnes, age 67, oldest daughter of Norma J. Teehee and John L. Teehee Sr., passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023.

 

Cherie was born February 27, 1955, in Fredonia, KS and was the oldest of seven siblings. She attended K-6th grade at Washington Elementary School then attended 7-12th at Sedan, KS. She graduated from Sedan in 1973. In March of 1983, she married Randy A. Barnes and raised a family before later divorcing.

 

Her hobbies included reading, Crocheting, and other crafts and she enjoyed bartending at the Independence VFW. She attended and was a member of the Nazarene Church of Elk City, KS. She loved her soul sisters, and she had a multitude of friends.

 

Cherie is survived by her daughters, Summer Millar of Independence, KS, and Stevee C. Barnes of Pride, LA and one son, Davin A. Barnes (Trudie O’Leary) of Elk City, KS; 6 grandchildren: Cassidy Jo Camacho, Independence, KS, Andrew Cole Strasburg of Indianapolis, IN, Amberlyn Strasburg of Fredonia, KS, Brianna Humphrey (O’Leary), Council Grove, KS, Ethan O’Leary, Elk City, KS, Brayden O’Leary, Elk City, KS; her mother, Norma J Teehee, Independence, KS; her siblings: James Millar (Shari) Olathe, KS, Karen Oliver (Bryan/Potpie) Grove, OK, John L. Teehee Jr. (Angie) Walnut, KS, Ann Valade (Joseph) Ozark, MO, Renee Castorena (Pat Clark) Independence, KS, Jennifer Collier (Donnie) Independence, KS; aunts and uncles: Don Jones and family, Fl, Marvin Jones and family, KS, Jane Brewster and family, OK, Marilyn Fuller and family, OK, Sharlene Keet and family, FL, David Teehee Sr. (Marcell) and family, TX, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

 

Cherie was preceded in death by her dad, John L. Teehee Sr., one grandson, Dennis Lee Frazier Jr., maternal grandparents Bill and Viola Joy, paternal grandparents Alfred R. Sr. and Havil Teehee, uncles Harold Dwight Bell, Alfred R. Teehee Jr. Paul Stephen Teehee, Vernon Neal Teehee and aunt Frances Ellen Teehee.

 

A private family inurnment will be held at the Peru Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Elk City Church of the Nazarene at 12:00 pm.
