Phyllis Ann (Crane) Pevehouse

On January 28, 2023, Phyllis Ann (Crane) Pevehouse died in her sleep at the Medicalodge in Independence, Kansas where she resided for five days.

In July of 1950 she married Carl Curtis Pevehouse on a surprise elopement to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  They had a wonderful marriage together that produced three children, Linda, Carla and Jon.

Phyllis loved being a stay-at-home mom but decided to further her education in the 1960's.  She graduated from Coffeyville Junior College in 1965 and went on to drive back and forth to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas daily to attend classes until she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1968.  Her family was so proud as she graduated with honors.  This began her teaching career at Garfield elementary school in Coffeyville where she taught 6th grade for six years.  After her son Jon was born, she stayed home to be a mother and homemaker but continued to be a substitute teacher for many years.

Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. She was an active member of the Cultural Arts Council and belonged to various civic organizations through the years.  Phyllis loved reading, puzzles, playing bridge and spending time with her family.  She will be sorely missed by all.  The family loved their "mom"/"meme" so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Meredith and Sadie Crane; her loving husband, Carl Pevehouse; a sister, Louise Elder; a brother, Henry Crane.
