Shirley Jean McClure

Shirley Jean McClure age 79 of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on November 18, 2022, at Medicalodges of Coffeyville surrounded by her family.

 

Shirley was born in Chanute Kansas on June 29, 1943, to Joe and Margaret (Hanson) Perkins. The family made their home in South Coffeyville and that is where Shirley was raised and attended grammar school, graduating from Lenapah High School. After high school she began working for Old Yellow Front, after raising her children Shirley also worked for Western Publishing, and enjoyed owning and operating S&K Antiques with her husband. Shirley fell in love with her classmate and friend, Kenneth McClure and on December 27, 1962, after a church service the couple were united in marriage in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. To this union the couple was blessed with a son and two daughters.

 

Shirley loved being a wife a mother and a granny. she also enjoyed collecting Raggedy Ann dolls, quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, camping, and fishing for anything that would bite. Shirley was the definition of a good Christian woman, she was kind, loyal, giving, and she respected and valued her marriage.

 

Shirley will be missed most by her husband Kenneth, daughters; Tracy Norris and her husband Geoff and Nancy Potter and her husband James, daughter-in-law Tricia McClure, her brothers; Clifford Perkins and his wife Carol, Mike Perkins, and Bob Perkins and his wife Dorothy, grandchildren; Nick Norris and his wife Shawnna, Toni McClure and her husband Matt, Samantha Pomeroy and her husband Jeff, Christopher Potter, and Hailey Potter, and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

She now rests with her parents and her Father and Mother in-law William Oscar and Pearl McClure, a sister in-law Sherry Perkins and her son Vic McClure.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma with Pastor Jonathan Filson officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be left with or sent in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Road Coffeyville, KS 67337.
