Louis Edward Amann

Louis Edward Amann of Dearing, Kansas passed away at Medicalodge on Midland in Coffeyville, Kansas on November 16, 2022, at the age of 86.

 

Louis was born on Sunday, May 24, 1936, to Leonard and Jenny (Pontius) Amann in Arkansas City, Kansas.   Louis grew up in Wichita with his parents and two brothers and two sisters.  He graduated high school from Wichita East and completed his education at Wichita State with a bachelor’s degree in drafting.

 

 

 

June 17, 1959, Louis married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Cain in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  The couple made their home in Wichita, eventually making their way back to Coffeyville are to be closer to Barbara’s family making it their forever home.  Louis and Barbara had three children, Ronald, Roger, and Debra.  Barbara preceded him in death on March 18, 2011.

 

 

 

In his early career Louis worked on Cessna Aircraft where he was a draftsman for Boeing-Beech.  After moving to Coffeyville, he began working for Halliburton where he was a sheet metal supervisor.  Having the opportunity to become a draftsman again and mechanic he began working at Spears Manufacturing until he retired.

 

 

 

Attending church was very important to Louis and attended Dearing Christian Church until his health began to fail.  Louis had a great love for the Lord, studying God’s word and striving to live his life in accordance with God’s will for his life.  He enjoyed fishing, time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.  He was an avid Chiefs fan and proudly wore their Super Bowl Championship hat.  Those who knew him knew that he was super talented, he could design and make just about anything, he was a Jack of all Trades and a Master of many.

 

 

 

Louis was loved by his family and will be greatly missed by his children: Ron Amann and his wife Reena, of Dearing, Kansas, Roger Amann and his wife Donna, of Coffeyville, Kansas, Debra Castorena of Edna, Kansas; grandchildren: Loretta and husband Aaron Wilson, Rhonda and husband Mike Burroughs, Roger Amann and wife Christina, Anthony Amann, Roberta and husband Chad Sherman, Nathan Humphrey, Tamera Weber and Monica Castorena; 21 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 3 more on the way.

 

 

 

Louis’ family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2022, from 6-8pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, , 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas.

 

 

 

Funeral services celebrating the life of Louis will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 10:30am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Pastor J.B. Brown of Dearing Christian Church officiating.  Committal services will be held at Fairview Veterans Memorial Patio, immediately following the chapel service.  Louis will be laid to rest next to his wife, Barbara in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at the completion of the committal service.  The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to Dearing Christian Church in his memory and may be left in care of the chapel.  Services will be streamed live under his obituary page at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com  where you may also leave an online word of condolence or share a memory.
