Mrs. Betty Maxine Smith

Mrs. Betty Maxine Smith age 94 of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 4, 2022, at her daughters home where she had resided for several years because of failing health.

 

Betty was born on February 4, 1928 to John William and Nellie Stacey (Manning) Swalley in Delaware, Oklahoma.  After graduating from high school she married Glenn Smith, of that union five daughters were born, Glenda, Sherry, Linda, Stacey and Vicki.

 

Betty had several places of employment over the years but being a wife and mother were most important to her.  Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, search a word, garage selling and recording her favorite movies to watch again and again. 

 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn and two daughters, Glenda J. Lewis and Sherry R. Seaton; one grandson Adame E. Laney; four brothers Bert C. Swalley, Mavin L. Swalley, J.D. Swalley and Harold N. Swalley.

 

Surivors include three daughters, Linda D. Ross, Coffeyville, Kansas, Stacey L. Maris, Belleville, Kansas and Vicki L. Vail and husband Clyde N. Vail, Coffeyville, Kansas; one sister Lela M. Ward, Baltimore, Maryland; seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

 

Betty’s wishes were for cremation to take place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel and no formal services at this time but to return home with her daughter.  To leave the family an online message of condolence or to share a memory visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
