Norma Ilene Derringer

Norma Ilene Derringer of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center at the age of 94.

 

Norma was born to Clarence and Goldie (Earley) Hickcox on March 21, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska.  Norma married Carl Derringer on April 17, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas.  Carl preceded her in death on July 9, 1982. She worked for Haliburton, Rock-a-Chair, Bailey's Restaurant and after 17 years of service she retired from Windsor Place.

 

Norma also attended Central Baptist Church until her health began to fail, she was a member of the VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20.

 

She is survived by her children, Carla Fisher, of Coffeyville, Craig (Darlene) Derringer of Clovis, California, Loretta Romines of Coffeyville, grandchildren, Melissa Carrell, Annie Kampa, Shelly Holzwart, Becky Altis, and Megan Pierce, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren and and half-sister Mary Ziel.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Cook, half-brother Fred Hickcox, and great-granddaugther Kali.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337.  Pastor Charles Pitts of Central Baptist Church will be officiating.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Carl in Fairview Cemetery following the service. Friends may call on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, to sign the register and viewing from Noon to 5pm.  The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to Coffeyville Friends of Animals and may be left in care of the chapel.  Services will be streamed live under her obituary page at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com where you may also leave an online word of condolence or share a memory.
