Belle Stapleton

Belle Stapleton of Coffeyville, KS, died October 11, 2022.

Belle was born on November 4, 1939, in Coffeyville, KS to Harry T. and Grace L (Fisher) Roberts. At the age of four, her parents moved to rural Coffeyville, just west of town. She attended Robins School, and later attended

Coffeyville schools, where she graduated from Field Kindley High School. In 1956, Belle married Ronald Ross Stapleton. She and Ron left the Coffeyville area briefly so Ron could serve in the United States Army. Once Ron completed service, they returned to Coffeyville, where they raised their three children; Richard, Jerome, and Rhonda.

Belle would occupy her time as a wife and mother as she raised her children. In 1969, she and Ron bought a farm west of Coffeyville where they enjoyed raising horses, cattle, and buffalo. Belle went to work, part-time, at the family business Stapleton's Products. In 1974, the family business sold, and soon after, she went to work for Ozark National Life Insurance. Belle retired in 1990. Ron would join her in retirement in 1999, and the two enjoyed their time gardening and traveling. Later in life, Belle would become an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also continued to garden, one of her great passions, through the summer of 2022, having a very successful garden, despite the current drought.

Belle is survived by her children, Richard and Donna Stapleton, Jerome and Becky Stapleton, and Rhonda Stapleton Baker, all of which live in Coffeyville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand son, and her sister, Elizabeth Allen.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents, a brother, and a granddaughter, Jenny Stapleton.

Memorial services by the family will be held at Dearing Christian Church on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10:30 am. The family suggests memorials be made payable to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be left with or sent in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Road Coffeyville, KS 67337.
