Obituaries

Delbert F. Roeder

Delbert F. Roeder, 82, of Coffeyville, Kansas and Afton, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on February 3, 1940, at Cherryvale, Kansas to Edward and Cecilia (Lies) Roeder.  Delbert grew up in the Coffeyville area where he attended Holy Names Catholic School.

On June 13, 1959, he married Judith K. “Judy” Kriebel.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville for six months before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they lived until returning to Coffeyville in 1965.  After returning to Coffeyville, Delbert worked in Wichita as a welder for Boeing during the week returning to Coffeyville on the weekends to be with Judy and their three children.  Judy preceded him in death on June 11, 2016.

He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.  Delbert was also a former member of the OK Car Club and the Shrine.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his fiancé, Dixie Kriebel; one daughter, Serenia Bilby (Bobby Smith) of Coffeyville; two sons, Jeffery Roeder of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tim Roeder (Karla) of Coffeyville; one brother, Darrell Roeder (Peachie); two sisters, Margaret Cornell (Jack) of Coffeyville and Coralee Olson (Larry) of Andover, Kansas; seven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy; four brothers, Ed Roeder, Norman “Nick” Roeder, Vernon Roeder, and Clayton Roeder; and two sisters, Edna Mae Kendrick and Jeanie Figgins.

The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2022, at Holy Name Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father James Schibi officiating.  Following Delbert’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Friends may sign the register book on Thursday, September 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
