LaWanda M. Caldwell

LaWanda was strong, independent, and tireless, always trying to instill those traits in her children and grandchildren. She lived her life to the fullest making so many friends along the way. You were blessed to have her in your life, and you had a friend forever. She took the time to listen and learn, eager to gain knowledge. LaWanda was a social butterfly and could hold her own to the end of any conversation no matter the topic. She knew a little bit about everything, from football to current event, this is probably why LaWanda was amazing at crossword puzzles. Bingo was her game, and she loved the time she had with family and friends playing it.

In 1949 LaWanda met the love of her life and her forever dance partner, Edward Lee Caldwell (Bud), they soon married and started a family. While living in Dallas they welcomed their son Buddy Lee. After moving to Coffeyville, Kansas they welcomed two daughters, Gail and Diane.

LaWanda was a classy woman, always dressed to the nines with a new pair of shoes (and of course a purse to match) but never did you let her looks fool you, she was witty and extremely sharp. Diligently behind the scenes calling in the “big guns”.

She was private about her faith yet whole heartedly dedicated to her Lord. On Tuesday, May 31st 2022 at 10:42pm she  asked her Lord to take her hand and lead her home.

Left to celebrate her memory are her children, Buddy Lee (Linda), Gail (Mike), Diane (Larry).  Her grandchildren Alesia, Kerrie, Heather, Chris, her great grandchildren, KayDee, Emily, Riley, Sophia, Taylor, AJ, Liam, and Sky Lee. LaWanda was blessed to be a great great grandmother to Meelah , Given, Jude, and Charli Rose. Her siblings, Sister Gerlene, and brother Jimmy Ted. Also, her little Dorthey dog, and the many other who knew and loved her.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Buddy, grandson Larry Joe, parents Vernia Mae and Auther, brother Auther Dee and sister Dorthey.

To know LaWanda M. Caldwell was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by all.
