Mary Ann Thomas

Mary Ann Thomas, 77, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at Medicalodge in Coffeyville.

She was born on October 1, 1944, Atchison, Kansas to Elmer and Mabel (Weatherford) Olberding.  Mary Ann grew up and attended school in Baileyville, Kansas.  After graduating from high school, she attended and completed Beauty College.

Over the years Mary Ann worked as a Beautician, a driver providing railroad crew transportation, a security guard, and certified nurse’s aide.

She married Joe Cheray they had four children together, he preceded her in death. She later married Steve Cupp and they were divorced. She then married Danny Thrower and he preceded her in death.

On July 7, 2019, she married Paul Thomas at Coffeyville. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville. Paul and Mary Ann were very active at their church the Coffeyville First Assembly of God.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville, and was a member of the Topeka Train Club, she enjoyed painting and was a prayer warrior.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Thomas of the home; her children, Jerry Whitlock, Joe Cheray, Christy Cheray, Tony Cheray and John Cheray; stepdaughter, Kira Lillie; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands, Joe Cheray, and Danny Thrower    .

A Memorial Service celebrating Mary Ann’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville with Pastor Randy DePriest and Wanda Shafer officiating.  Following Mary Ann’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

The family suggests memorials to the First Assembly of God Benevolence Fund; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
