Robert "Robbie" Darrell Rooks

Robert “Robbie” Darrell Rooks, age 48, of Caney, Kansas passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at his home.

 

Robbie was born on May 3, 1974 in Caney, Kansas to Lyn (Usher) Rooks.  When Robbie was young his mother married Ronald Rooks who adopted Robbie and his brother, Damon.  Robbie attended Coffeyville schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School.  He was really good at wrestling and placed 5th at state his senior year.  He also attended Coffeyville Community College for a time.  Robbie proudly served in the United States Navy in the early 1990’s.

 

He worked a few jobs through the years but most notably was when he worked for Watco and for Eagle Security.  The job he enjoyed most was the years he spent as an umpire and referee for the Coffeyville Rec Center.  He loved sports and was an avid OU and Dallas Cowboys fan.

 

Robbie enjoyed spending time at the lake, grilling out or making his world-famous homemade fajitas.  Most of all he loved his kids and his family.  Robbie was his kids’ number one fan.  He did his best to make it to all their activities and cheer them on no matter what they were doing.

 

Robbie met and fell in love with his fiancé Krystal Paulie.  The two had plans to marry later this year.  He enjoyed sharing their lives together and loved her family like his own.

 

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Brandon Miller of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Dakota Rooks of Leavenworth, Kansas, Jordan Rooks of Lawrence, Kansas, fiancé, Krystal Paulie of the home and her family, grandchildren, Julian, Jay and Scarlet, siblings, Damon Rooks, Jesse Rooks, Cody Rooks, Kitra West, Randy McDaniel, Michael Berryman, Jonita Easky, Simone Berryman and Samantha Berryman, step siblings, John, Joey and Jennifer Keylon; step mother, Jacque Rooks of Coffeyville, Kansas, many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.

 

Robbie was preceded in death by his mother, Lyn Usher and father, Ron Rooks, maternal grandparents, Guyla Jo Condit, Leon Usher, paternal grandparents, Clyde and Virginia Waltrip.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Coffeyville.  Pastor Gary Fox will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Veterans Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery.  Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20 Honor Guard. 

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

 

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the GoFundMe account set up by Robbie’s children to help defray the cost of funeral expense https://gofund.me/bd041659 or donations can be made to the Coffeyville Rec Center or Coffeyville Friends of Animals; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
