Albert "Jack" Hill

Albert “Jack” Hill, age 79, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Medicalodge Nursing Home in Coffeyville. 

Jack was born on December 18, 1942 in Coffeyville, Kansas to John and Rosemary (Knight) Hill.  He earned his high school diploma at Dewey High School in Dewey, Oklahoma., where he and his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Hines were united in marriage on December 12, 1962.  He furthered his education at Coffeyville Community College where he earned his Associates Degree.  He went on to attend Southern Illinois University. 

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army where he served as an Army Medic.  Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Coffeyville.  The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their son, Lance.  The couple later divorced. 

Jack worked as a Bridge & Building Foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years until retirement.  He was proud of his Native American heritage; he was part Delaware and part Shawnee.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was active in track and enjoyed fast pitch softball.  Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. 

Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, Lance Hill of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Grant David Hill and Bailey Jo Kerns; former wife, Carolyn Frances of Coffeyville, Kansas, a sister, Deanna Lankerd and husband, Bill of Oologah, Oklahoma along with several extended relatives and close friends.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosemary Hill and by three infant children. 

Following Jack’s wishes, a private family burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. 

A visitation with the family present to greet friends will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
