Dora Deanne Alloway

Dora Deanne Alloway, age 97, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

 

Deannie or Dee as she was more commonly known was born on July 28, 1924, in Elgin, Kansas to Fred R. and Lila F. (Conklin) Dunn.  She grew up in Elgin where she attended school and graduated from Elgin High School.  During World War II, she did secretarial work for Beech Aircraft.

 

On January 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ralph H. Alloway in Pratt, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Oklahoma, Arizona, Oregon, California and Texas spanning the 40 years of Mr. Alloway's career as a store manager.  In 1986, she and Ralph moved back to Coffeyville, Kansas to settle into retirement.

 

Deannie attended and served in churches everywhere they moved, including the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville.  For the past 11 years, she was active in the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville.  Through the years Deannie spent much of her time tending to the house and their two daughters.  She loved being involved and showing support for all the activities the girls were active in.  Deannie enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing and cooking.  Above all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends.

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Rhonda Barr of Happy Jack, Arizona, Janis Mathers and husband, Greg of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Ronald Barr and wife, Jennifer of Scottsdale, Arizona, Hope Mathers of Owasso, Oklahoma, great grandchildren, Kyus Sherman and Alexis Barr of Phoenix, Arizona.

 

Deannie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lila Dunn, loving husband, Ralph Alloway, siblings, Amsi Dunn, Marie Betts and Freddie Dunn.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may come by the funeral home to view and sign the guest register throughout the day.

 

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Pastor James Biesiadecki of the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville will officiate.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville: Building Fund; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
