Floyd E. Pitman

Floyd E. Pitman left this world to go be with his Lord and Savior with his wife and daughter by his side at the age of 73 Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Journey Home.

New Year’s Day seventy-three years ago, in 1949 Floyd Edward Pitman made his grand entrance to this world in Henryetta, Oklahoma to his proud parents, Edward Albert and Dorothy June (Morgenson) Pitman. Floyd grew up playing and attending school in the Henryetta and Dewar, Oklahoma area.

In Muskogee, Oklahoma in June of 1968 at just nineteen years of age Floyd entered the United States Air Force.  He proudly served his country until September of 1969 where he received his honorable discharge holding the rank of Airman 1st Class at Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City. Floyd was stationed in California at the time of his release, he was the only son, and his dad was fighting cancer, so he was discharged to be able to help his mom care for his dad.

Floyd asked Sherry Wakefild to be his wife, and her son, Chris who he dearly loved if he could be a part of his life.  The couple welcomed a son, Chad Pitman to their family.  Though the couple later divorced their children were loved by their parents.

Floyd found love again when he met Thelma Brown the couple married. Thelma had two children; Susan Lawson and Spike Lawson that Floyd adored. Soon after he and Thelma married, he officially made them his own by adopting them. Then he and Thelma were blessed with Brian Pitman between them.  After fourteen years of marriage unfortunately their marriage ended in divorce.

Floyd began attending church and became rather smitten with a lady, Sandra C. (Reeves) Kastler that was also attending there. Well, the couple started a courtship and in 1993 he and Sandy were married. Sandy had three children that he now became “Dad” to: Gayla, Shonna, Glen.  Floyd loved all his kids, and the “step” word was never used in his home.  Floyd and Sandy said God put us together to love each other not walk on each other so they didn’t allow the word “step” to exist.  The love between the whole family was and is of God.

Floyd and Sandy often shared a funny little story from a discussion on the way home from the Wedding Chapel the day they were married.  He looked over to Sandy and said, “God has blessed me with a loving wife but now, God has blessed me with grandchildren and I’m a “Grandpa”!!! Until their marriage he hadn’t experienced grandchildren but boy, oh boy he was thrilled to have that title and he has forever since loved them babies and other grandchildren that have been born since.

ard work was something that Floyd wasn’t afraid of.  He worked several different jobs before his long-time employment with the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a train conductor.  He retired after 42 years of dedication to the railroad.  Floyd dearly loved to hunt and fish with his best friend; Harry Keith and we just know that the two of them are in Heaven fishing now.

Floyd and his wife Sandy of the home have a blended family of seven children, Chad Pitman, Brian Pitman, Susan Greenfield, Spike Pitman, Gayla Garrison, Glen Kastler, Shonna Dickinson, seventeen grandchildren; Kara, Courtney, Rachalle, Dakota, Kelsey, Matthew, Levi, Mason, Lilli, Paityn, Shantel, Chelsea, Hanna, Karter, Taylor, Eric, Josh, thirteen great grandchildren; Kaidence, Jaelyn, Lance, Andre III, Kamberlyn, Brooks, Kennedy, Tatum, Addie, Kesleigh, Sawyer, Hayley, Layton, Austyn, Aurora, Josiah, Hayley and baby Lindesmith on the way; Floyd was blessed with one sister in law Norene Pitman, niece Kelli Pitman Phillips and nephew Cory Pitman.  In addition to his parents Floyd’s baby brother, older brother, and one great grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 2:00 pm at First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 W. 8th, in Coffeyville, with pastor Luke Oldweiler officiating. Floyd will be laid to rest in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 5 to 7pm.  The family has requested memorial contributions be made payable to The Journey Home, 900 Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK or may be left in care of the chapel.  The service will be streamed through the First Southern Baptist Church website: www.firstsouthern.net
