Michael Dean "Mike" Wilson

Michael Dean "Mike" Wilson, age 72, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Windsor Place Home N Sight in Coffeyville. 

 

Mike was born on July 6, 1949, in Neodesha, Kansas to Dean C. and Dolores (Ross) Wilson.  He grew up in Neodesha where he attended local schools and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1967.  Mike furthered his education in Wichita, Kansas where he graduated from the Douglas Barber College.  He returned to southeast Kansas where he made Coffeyville his home for the next 45 years and spent his career as a barber at the 9th Street Barber Shop in Coffeyville until his retirement in 2013. 

 

On November 18, 1977, he married the love of his life, Alyson Thygerson at her parents home in Labette County.  They made their home in Coffeyville. Mike was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the Kiwanis Club, the Jaycees and the Red Raven Men's Basketball Booster Association.  He coached little league baseball and refereed high school basketball for over 20 years.  Mike was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the KU Jayhawks, CCC Red Ravens, Wichita State Shockers and the Kansas City Royals.  In 2013, after retiring, Mike and Alyson moved to Wichita to be closer to family until 2020, when they moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma and have resided there ever since. 

 

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Alyson Wilson of the home, son, Eric Wilson and wife, Courtney, grandchildren, Jack and Luke Wilson all of Wichita, Kansas, along with Reggie "Bull" and Molly Britt, Colin Colbert, Mackenzie and James Bauer, all of whom Mike and Alyson treat like they are their own children, Mike's sisters, Betty Wilson of Neodesha, Kansas and Kim Wilson of Altoona, Kansas as well as numerous extended relatives and close friends.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Dolores Wilson and by his son, Jason Lincoln Wilson. 

 

Friends may call on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville to sign the guest register. 

 

Family will greet friends on Thursday evening, January 13, 2022, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville.  Pastor Ford Hall and Pastor Luke Letsinger will officiate.  Interment will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. 

 

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the CCC Red Ravens Basketball Boosters or to the American Cancer Society; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
